Obama's Running Mate

As of minutes ago CNN is reporting that it is going to be Joseph Biden. Now assuming this is correct, here's what I want to know: Why all the SECRECY? I mean if it had been Hillary Clinton, I could sort of see it, but it's "only" Joe Biden. No offense to him, but he's, he's not all that well known, there's no media fury about him and Obama (or there wasn't until this past week), so why this big hush-hush counting down the days until the announcement who will it be attitude, like we're waiting to find out who Miley Cyrus's date for the prom is going to be? Please don't inject political views into this discussion, whether you're for Obama or McCain or anybody else isn't the point. I just find the media attention to this curious and sort of silly, really. Is it just because in this day and age with the internet and all, news services are in intense competition to be first with a story? But that still doesn't really explain the secrecy about it. Why couldn't Obama's people on Thursday have just said he'd picked Joe Biden and been done with it?
