I think I've never been discriminated, but accused, yes. Just this day I was accused and I think I also don't deserve to be accused with the thing that I am not. Well, I'm glad your experience helped you in becoming a better individual because you took it as a challenge and strove hard to become who you are now. Good day my friend dong.

I am a double minority, being an african american and female. I also am from the southern US. And was born during the 60's during the time of civil rights movement. I have seen my share of discrimination but like you have always used it as a motivation to prove that I am more than my race or gender.
Growing up as middle class it was like being stuck in the middle. We didn't have enough to be considered rich or too much to be considered poor and not quite good enough for the people on either side you. My parents taught us that the only way to overcome this was to educate ourselves, treat people right, stay on the right side of the law and use that as our merit.
After completeing college and entering the workforce I was still faced with the same challenges and constantly had to go over and beyond to prove myself. But I had been taught to deal with this adversity, so I plowed my way thru the prejudice and discrimination to work my way up to senior management level. With the goals of being able to someday own my own company, where I could serve the public and hire people without prejudice or discrimination. My goal was to do this by my 40th birthday. And on my 40th Birthday I left my job to start my own company. For almost 3 years I have successfully run my own company using those principles.
I too think that I am a better, stronger individual as a result of. And I try to instill in my 9 year old son, that he too should judge people by their own merit and not by the color of their skin or the financial status, of class that society deems they fit in. And that he too will be faced with certain challenges because he is a minority, living in a society where he will be judged because of his race and gender, so he has to be clear about who he is and what he has to offer the world. As he will be faced with many obstacles based on things that he has no control over and can't change. But when you are smart and are of good works, nobody will be able to take that away from you.

Yes, many times before. We are the poorest family
in the block when I was young. Our mother leave us
for another man. Everything is worst and other children
who doesn't suffer like us always find ways to torture
me and my other siblings. But we grow old and we learn
how to fight, the best thing is we don't hold a grudge
to our tormentor. It's a long way ride. But it's worth the
fight.
