Well, I can tell you, I was ok with the bills at the trailer, they ranged to about $150 a month during the summer, so it was no big deal when we moved and received the total bill for there, it was $319! I paid $120 that I was suppose to pay during our move, and well, I called to see what if anything else they added to our bill and I was told by the computer and the customer service rep that I had a credit of $120! lol OK didn't worry. Well, we got our first bill for our house last month (July) and it was $136 + the remainder balance of the old place making it $345. Ok still no problem as we are still paying for the old place. This month we got our bill and low and behold I almost passed out. It was $199!!!I don't have the AC on during the day, I have ceiling fans so I use them. I put the AC on about an hour before hubby comes home for lunch so it is cool for him. Same when he is coming home from work. The rest of the time there is NO AC! I looked at the bill and compared it to the bill for last month and our entergy usage was only around $75!!! There is a charge of $121 for FUEL!!! $6 for a Hurricane charge!! WTH is a Hurricane charge??!! Does anyone know why there is a fuel charge on our entergy bill? No one seems to know, but it is the highest damn thing on the bill! I am so not happy about that. Well, we are not keeping the AC on majority of the time now. lol We only use the ceiling fans or if it is like over 90 degrees we put the AC on, doing this so we can get the bill lowered this month. Can't wait to see it! Can't wait for FALL!! ~Icy~

Our fuel charge is killing us well. One thing that you are doing wrong is turning the A/C on and off that is worse than leaving it on and setting it on like 80 when you are home and putting it down to 78 or so when he comes home. Hurricane charge - areas affected by hurricane Katrina have this charge. After Katrina electrical companies cried poor from making so many repairs. So they are allowed to charge X amount every month. Here in Louisiana they have to discount a certain portion of it back to the bill though. Fuel charge - I really think this is ONLY in Katrina areas too. Every other place I lived & pre-katrina we didn't have this charge. This *I think* has to do with fuel they lost during the storm. Regardless, the rate is set by how much they are paying for fuel (I don't know why no one knows about this charge as it has been billed since 2006). Either was both charges are the biggest freakin' scam ever. FYI: I didn't check your state but in Louisiana the Governor is trying ot pass a bill that will let people who fall under the poverty line the (150% thing they use for government programs) get a portion of their bill deferred. This program use to only be available to people on Medicaid and Medicare and over a certian age group (I think 65). So you may want to check into it, I know I am.

You asked what my bill was for this month. Last month it was 234, this month it was 193. I made another post explaining why it dropped http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1666966.aspx To give you an idea: Last month We used 1686 KWH ENERGY CHARGE ($0.03835 PER KWH) $64.66 FUEL CHARGE ($0.08697 PER KWH) $146.63 This month We used 1426 KWH ENERGY CHARGE ($0.03835 PER KWH) $54.69 FUEL CHARGE ($0.08908 PER KWH) $127.03 Taxes, customer charge, brought it up to 193 We just moved from one area to this one at the end of May. In our old area both charges were a few cents cheaper and our usage was about 1300 KWH per month. With that being said our highest bill after living there for 2 years was the bill due in June (our last bill) at $143. We actually SHOULD have been using more KHW there because we had to leave lights on all day (for our birds) and we didn't really ever adjust the A/c up and down.

I also wanted to tell you - I forgot you are in Louisiana - you should check out your old bills. You should have Entergy - right? If so, the fuel charges and "storm" charges should be on all of your bills all the way to the beginning of 2006.

Thanks Sedel, The fuel charge is on all our bills, but it was NEVER that high! lol I am paying more for that than the electricity we use. lol The thing the governer is trying to pass, isn't for us on the news the other morning they discussed it and it is for everyone else, but the people who have Entergy New Orleans. GO FIGURE! lol I am not below the poverty line though, so I wouldn't qualify anyway. Thanks for letting me know all this though. I never really paid attention to what the heck the charge was for, as it was always so low. I asked my sister and she said it covers what ever the heck they want it too! lol So in other words a BIG Scam that we get to pay for! Hurricane fee, just appeared this month it is $6, not complaining about the amount, but it has been nearly 3 years since Katrina and they are just now adding a hurricane fund to the bill?! LOL I find that odd!
