This thread is about is about a movie called, The Wedding Date, but if you haven't seen it, feel free to relate any stories you have of finding a date for a wedding...
I just saw this movie today - and I admit it - I watched it yesterday too. In it, Debra Messing's character hires an escort to fly home to her sister's wedding. She wants to make her ex jealous and its for her family and their questions too.
I really like Dermont Mulroney's character (besides the fact that he is an escort). He's wise and calm and very insightful about women and what they want. He knows what to say and he has a great voice. He really listens and understands when people talk to him and it appears people just naturally open up to him. This is a very s$xy quality. Have you seen it? If so what did you think of the movie and his character - and the idea of hiring an escort to make your family think you're happy, to stop inevitable questons if you're still single - and comments and to make your ex jealous?

I saw that movie awhile back when it was on tv and then I was watching it again today. I really liked it. I'm a fan of Debra Messing. I thought the movie was great. It was pretty funny. I thought it was funny that she was trying to make her ex jealous and thought she was till they found out he was upset because he was in love with her sister.

Well yeah, funny in a sad way. What a blow to her ego. I love how her sisters fiancee was worried right away when he found out if Debra Messing's character, Kat, knew. Knowing it would hurt her. I like Debra Messing too, she kind of plays the same klutsy, endearing characters in all of the roles I've seen her in. I can imagine even in intimate situations she probably winds up hitting her lovers and maybe falling on the floor and stuff.

I saw the movie and enjoyed it. Guys like Dermont's character simply don't exist--I don't think--men don't really function that way or very few do.
And as for hiring an escort, that shows insecurity on her part, she should be able to tell her family and her friends that she is a successful working woman who hasn't found the right man yet but it still looking. There should be no need to "shut up her family" or to make an ex jealous that just shows you are not satisfied with who you are.

yes i had watched it many times...its a very nice movie i should say..i dunno if you still remember the scene where in the sister and the ex was caught having an affair during the relationship with Debra..saw them kissing on the balcony( i assume it is a balcony) then she found our that the reason why they broke up is because of the sister..as per the escort, quite impressing character in there...
