Why do I let my mother bother me??

I am almost 50 years old and I still care what she says to me. Why can't I just ignore her? It shouldn't matter what she tells me I am a grown woman. But when she gets this way I feel like I am 10. She was bugging me about my husband telling me that he should be working on the house (he has been painting it) instead of being at work. Huh? He needs to work to make a living. Then she tells me he "has so much free time" to get it done. Don't know where she gets that from seeing as he works between 50-75 hours a week. UGH!!! Why do I let her bother me? Does anyone else still care what there parents tell them even though they are in their 50's?

i'm almost on my 30's and what my mom tells me still botheres me. and truthfully when im almost in my 50's i will still be bothered by her actions. she is the type of person who has to be in everyones business. and since i am her only living daughter its pretty much all on me and my husband and kids. she never married so i kind of think that could be a reason to it in her case. she is lonely and lives threw us maybe

I am the only daughter too so maybe that is why is does this. It just really annoys me when she gets on a subject as she won't let up. She thinks that she is always right and that I should just agree with her. Granted she isn't always wrong either but she sure as heck isn't right about everything.
