Update on a man aged 84, but having 86 wives..

Some days back i started a discussion on a Nigerian Mohammed Bello Abubakar, 84 , marrying 86 wives..and for those who missed my topic i again give the link here.. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1642640.aspx Now the update on that man: Nigeria''s Islamic authority has told an 84-year-old man who has 86 wives to choose only four and repent within three days or else he will be sentenced to death, And this news i came across in the link http://www.topnews.in/people/mohammed-bello-abubakar Now, my point is, this action of the Islamic authority.. ( no religious hurls i make) could be considered as a punishment for him? Cheers and happy mylotting.

Hi saivenkat with little eyesight and declining memory, I just wonder how the poor chap's going to choose his 4!! lol... That's heck of a job towards the end of his life! That's too much for him at this age! I just wonder where were those wise heads all these years. How could he manage to marry 86 ladies in the first place!

When he chose 4 ladies and leave the remaining 82,.. and if all these women give on slap on his face...poor guy he is finsihed..

Can he remember all of his wives? he living with all of them? Can he remember all names? How much it will cost to divorce 82? Whole story is crazy. 4 wives is still too much. I wish I care what is going to happen to him. Media has something to talk about for sure.

Frankly, I don't like people who are not single-minded. Perhaps some men will envy this man who has 86 wives. But I think he has more headache because he has so many wives and they can fight for him. Besides, he is not fair to his wives. So far I know that Islam only allows a man to marry to 4 wives. But in fact in some Islamic countries a man can only marry to one woman and I think it's very good. I love China

Hi there saivenkaat802003 Please help me to understand this. If the man's religion allows him to have as many wives as he wishes, why does he have to repent? Of course I do not condone him for having so many wives as I am sure that one is enough for anyone, but why does the religion appear to contradicting itself? In Islam I understand that a man may have as many wives as he wishes provided he treats every one of them the same and has no favourites!!
