Have you ever had false teeth or dentures that hurt?

I went the other day to the dentist, and he said that I would have to have 4 teeth remove. Ouch!!! As it is, that means I'll have lost a total of 8 teeth altogether. Nothning on top for me to chew with for 3 weeks, till my new denture would be ready. Yuck. Chicken soup & mashed potatoes was about all I could eat. (not together) When I finally got my new dentures the other day, I've found that my mouth has changed over those past weeks, and my new plate now takes some getting used to. It hurts! Has this ever happened to you? ...How long did you have to wait before your mouth settled down, and the pain eased? cd

I had all or part of 22 teeth taken out at once and my dentures made at the same time. They never fit right or were comfortable. The place is about an hour away and you have to wait all day for them...deeeeep discounts. I just started eating without them and for 5 years didn't look back. Now I'm trying with a new set but even these are going to be refitted. From people I talked to, most have trouble at first and it takes patience and effort on our part to get them to fit right and not hurt. Many like me find that pads work best on the top and paste works best for the bottoms. Being able to eat nuts and crunchy things is worth the effort. I still only wear them every other day or when I go out on special occasions...I'm not self conscious about no teeth.

WOW 22 teeth! That's a mouthful. I don't know how you managed that, I don't think I could. You are very brave. Thank you for your response. Warmest wishes; crazydaisy

Well, I have the "advantage" of having fibromyalgia so a bit of pain in the mouth was nothing major. Didn't even need their pain pills afterwords. I wish you luck with yours.
