The Olympic Games have drawn to a close with a glittering ceremony inside Beijing's Bird's Nest Stadium. Spectacular fireworks kicked off the proceedings, while a beautifully choreographed drumming and dancing display recalled the opening ceremony. It was a more celebratory affair, as exuberant athletes, dancers and musicians got into the party spirit. The Olympic flag was handed to London mayor Boris Johnson, with organizers briefly showcasing the 2012 Games. The countdown to 2012 has started, and organizers will know they have a great deal to live up to with China hosting one of the best organized Games in history and staging some of the most memorable opening and closing ceremonies ever seen.

Well we have the Winter Olympics happening in Vancouver and was the spectacular show of the Beijing Olympics at the beginning also include sets done previous and were not the building of the Beijing Olympics done on the back of the poor people who were driven out of the area? Plus using underage girls in the gymnastics? All that glitter and glitz cannot hide dishonesty and human right violations. At least the future Olympics in 2012 Games will not have that problem.

I was a little worried because I just got home from work. I thought I missed the closing ceremonies but now I see it will be on again later this evening. I always feel a little sort of loss when they are over.
