i know that whenever i am reading a book and it gets to a part that isn't that interesting, i will usually just skim through it and try and get to some better parts, i don't do it all of the time but whenever it is getting boring thats what i do from time to time because it doesn't really hold my interest...so i was just wondering when you are reading a book and it gets to a part that may not be as interesting what do you do, do you just skim over that part or do you just read it like normal, do you ever skim? thanks for taking the time to read my discussion and i hope that you decide to respond, and i hope that you all have a great day, and evening and the rest of the weekend is great as well!

I tend to read that part very fast, not actually skimming it as I just may miss something important but i don't take as much care with reading that part

I have on occassion, done the same thing as you and just skimmed over it till I come to a part that is interesting again. But then sometimes I found that I was going back and reading it anyways because the interesting part had something to do with the part I skimmed and I wanted to know more about it. So now I don't do that very often and I will continue reading all of it or I will just put the book down and go back to it later when I maybe am not as tired and might not find that part boring again. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good day, Chris

Same here, jhl930! I love reading books but I tend not to each every line or word of each page. So like you, I skim through too. You can't expect me to patiently plough through "rubbish"!

The last two books i read werent that interesting in parts so I just skimmed the sections that didnt interest me. I only do that if I am somewhat into the book but not totally. The one book I was reading was so long and was a library book so that was most of the reason I was skimming. I read the end though of course so I know how it ended.

Hi jhl930 I usually continue to read it because knowing my luck it would turn out to be the most important part of the book regardless of how boring that part is!!

Although there are times when I'm really tempted to just skip the boring part, I still read it anyway. I just don't like the idea of missing any part of the book. ^_^

Hi jhl930, Actually I am a reading maniac and often read novels and books. In my case, whenever it comes to a cheesy part, I usually keep reading it as it is also a necessary part of the book. When I am reading a book during night (before going to sleep), and come upon a boring feature, I usually bookmark it and goto sleep. I further read the book the next day.

yes, i'm a person who skims, too. i guess i think the boring part is like a commercial on TV. if it doesn't capture my interest, then i'll fast forward with the book. now, i've proably missed something interesting along the way with skimming. but, i'll take my chances. i used to put the book down thinking it was me. a day later i would pick it up and FORCE myself to read it. it was definately boring and the extra time involved was not worth it. i'm sure there are boring parts in the great classics, too !

I don't like missing any part of a book, so I would just read it as I normally would.
