Do you know sponging in fever?

sponging is a method in which you can bring the temperature down in case of high fever. sponging should never be done with cold water. it should be ideally done with luke warm water and not hot water. any more queries are welcomed.

i agree..!! yet lets not forget that fever is just a symptom of any underlying infection or disease process so don't just be contented of doing sponge bath and not consult your doctor.

you are most right! sponging with a cold water is a NO NO since it sets the patient to chill. tepid sponge bath or TSB is what we termed it in the medical field which should be done with emphasis on hot spots (head part, armpit, neck area, groin) and on a continuous basis unless the body temperature has evidently gone down. of course, antipyretics or medicines for fever (tylenol, paracetamol) should also be given spontaneously round the clock at 4 hours interval for a faster relief. have a nice day! stay healthy!
