Boyfriend and I recently picked apples and lemons from my mom's yard. And we've had this ongoing discussion as to what we want to have in our garden if we have one. We've also agreed that most of them should be edible or useful in the kitchen. We want to grow apples, oranges, plums, pears, avocados, lemons, limes. We also would like to have herbs like basil, parsley and mint handy. Of course, we'd like to have tomatoes and onions around too.
If you get to have your garden or if you already have one, what would you like to be growing there?
Boyfriend and I put weather in consideration so other fruits like mango which I love is out of the running (for now!).

I fell in love with cherry blossoms when I went to the Shakespeare Garden in Golden Gate Park (San Francisco). Definitely a must in my garden, I don't know why I didn't list it. I like color in garden and I bet cherry blossoms and red maple trees would be very pretty to look at.

That is a very ambitious list of things to grow! We live in upstairs condos so we don't have any place for big plants. If I had a yard I would want a fig tree and an olive tree and a pomegranate tree and a meyer lemon. I wanted to buy a house once long ago but when I took hubby to see it, he said the first thing he would do was cut down the plum tree in the front yard and I said NO WAY as that was what I most liked about that house. He said it was too messy. I love messy plants as long as they are outdoors.
Well. we decided we weren't ready to buy a house yet. Too bad because a couple years later, that same house sold for about 5 times what we could have paid for it then. It wasn't worth fighting over, however.

Now that you mentioned it, boyfriend also wanted a fig and pomegranate tree. We still have a loooong way to go to enjoy that garden but we're always encouraged by his dad who has a big garden and also have all those I've mentioned and more.
