Our other PC was infected by a tojan and it had installed various rogue/ fake antivirus like MS Antivirus 2008 and others.. My anti-virus take cared of the tojan but it had disabled my task manager, the system date was replaced by "VIRUS ALERT", the computer icon cannot be seen from the start menu and also the run and the control panel.. I also couldn't see my hard drives.. can anyone suggest what to do?

If I were you ,I will format system disc and reinstall operating system right now.In my opinion, antivirus software is useless when you really need it. You will spent lots of time if you want to kill trojan with antivirus.

yes, thanks for the response.. me too, i don't fully trust antivirus softwares so i installed a lot of anti-spywares in my PC so that it will be protected at the very least. I also use ubuntu linux since viruses cannot operate on that OS..

not a good idea to install multiple antivirus software in one system.

It seems that there's nothing left for you to do but to reformat your computer. You can do it.

reinstall, and do don't forget to make a ghost copy to backup your system. it will be helpful when you get in trouble like this next time. for anti-virus, i use KAV7.0.
