Did The Da Vinci Code change your religious views?

Who have read this book by Dan Brown? This book contains a lot of information and I believe some of it are really true while some are debatable. Did the book change your view about the Church and the Christian faith? Personally, yes, a bit of my views about religion has changed after I read the book. That is because the book has been giving out evidences and who would not be tempted in proofs, right? This does not mean I am against the Catholic belief now but there are just some doubts swirling in my head and I don't know if these things could ever be resolved. The church is not open about it so meaning we should also not care much to inquire about things that might break our faith. So, how about you guys who read the famous Da Vinci Code?

Yeah, I really love reading books. In fact, I still have my friend's novel, "Exit here". I have that novel for a couple of months now. I think I got that novel since June; for the reason that I really love to read books. :p

I think you need to return your friend's book now since it has been long gone away from him. It is obvious from your picture that you are a bookworm. Very obvious everybody would know it right away. :)

I respect your views. We all have different views in this world. So you are Catholic? Are there lots of Christians in Indonesia?

it did not change my religious views at all. one work of fiction has no reason to make me consider another work of fiction to be more or less true. my personal religious beleifs are not affected by what a fictional book says about someone elses religion. I am as Pagan as I was before I read it.

Paganism covers a very broad spectrum of different beleifs. most are religions, some are more accurately described as spiritualities. I would consider a beleif in a deity to be a religion. and I, along with most branches of Paganism, have deities.

Just a question: Do you consider paganism a religion? I would just like to know since I really also can't tell if it is or not. Thank you for sharing... ;)

No, the book has not done that for me. Religious leaders with close mind have.

Yes, this book did change my view on Jesus. I started admiring Jesus more than earlier. I am not a Christian.

Really? Your reaction is unique and interesting... Why admire Jesus more?

Please do not have hard feelings for what I say as a non-Christian. I do not appreciate the work done by the Church for many years and now. They are not taking the message of Jesus. DVC criticise the Church's unacceptable acts and elaborate the qualities of Jesus and his virtous qualities in a more realistic way. This made me to know Jesus more than earlier which made me to like Jesus more than earlier as a non-Christian.

No it didn't. I think it was a very interesting book. I really enjoyed the book and all of Dan Brown's other books too. I think it just shone abit of light on many differant theories and that not everything is as it might seem. I am non relgeous and have remained that way.

it was an interesting book for me. but it never changed my faith nor my beliefs. it's fiction so there wasn't any reason for me to be affected. i enjoyed reading the book and i recommend this book to all. =)

Yes, it did changed. Well I have questions even before I read the Da Vinci Code, so I guess it just added up. And I agree with you, how can you not believe it if evidences are being shown. Especially the movie. I have thought of more and more questions after it.

Yeah! Thanks for agreeing. We are in the same boat for this issue. Well, we'll just wait for more information to clear the confusion about the church. ;p

I did but it didn't change my views about church. Although the book did make me think what really happened before my time.. It was a very very interesting read, and I would read it again. But compared to Angels and Demons, I still think the latter is the best.

Yeah I agree with you because the book really has a lot of information and new stuff in it. Very interesting indeed. Although I have read it one time only, I think I'll be reading the book again if time permits. Thanks for the response! ;p
