Rottweiler's fatal attack

In my countries news it was reported that the families pet rottweiller's fatally attacked there young girl and her mother was hospitalized, when the mother was asked what will happen to the dogs now, she replied, I'm not sure we will have too see. What is your view on what to do with the dogs, and the mothers statement?

it depends on the circumstances.
if the dog was provoked then it seems unfair to kill them. just in future to show more respect to the fact that they are an animal, and can be unpredictable, so not to hurt or tease them, or to re-home them with someone more suited to a dog like that.
if it was an unprovoked attack, then it's safest to have them put down
