Do you ever complain directly to the manufacturer if their product is bad?

Lately i have noticed a lot of the products i've bought including food products have not lived up to my expectations and i've started contacting the companies directly and telling them of my dis-satisfaction. Most of the time they really welcome my feedback and more times than not send me a free or replacement product, or give me my money back. What do you do if you get a product that doesn't live up to your expectations? Do you ever complain to them directly?

Funny you should mention this. I recently had some gravy powder that was infected with weevils. I emailed the company and they contacted me back and also sent me $10 worth a vouchers, a gravy sachet and a recipe booklet. Cool!

Is that Gravox gravy? That's really gross that it had weevils in it. But i'm so glad they contacted you back and gave you some vouchers. I guess it gives me a good feeling when they do things like this, because you know they are standing behind their products and want the consumer to be happy. It's when they don't respond that i stop using their products. But luckily almost every company i've ever had a problem with has treated me well and given me free products or vouchers. That's great!

I started doing this way back in the early 70's.I do it for the bad things as well as praising their products. They seem to like the feedback and usually send refunds or coupons which I think is a plus for the consumer.

I agree it is great to praise them for their products as well. I guess it really helps them either way in tailoring their product for the market. And the fact that they don't have to pay for consumer's opinions also.

I really have come across this situation many-a-times. I don't complain always, but i do sometimes. Not directly to the manufacturers, but to the retailers. I did get a replacement rarely but its in fact very rare. I think what you do is a great thing, and may be we all should be doing that. And really nice to know that they welcome the feedback and take it seriously.

I think even complaints to the retailers are good, although sometimes they may not pass the feedback on to the company.
