Seriously does anyone have done that before? I Think this is not a dumb question but just out of curiosity and wanted to know facts about that kind of stuff, its really mind boggling to know fact like this and gives me a hell out of laugh whenever I encountered questions about life and everything? Hope someone can really try to answer this?

From what I've seen (because I have tried before, lol), our tear ducts really won't have a problem producing tears underwater, so I guess yes, we can cry. On the other hand, humans can't breathe underwater. And unless you cry without the characteristic heavy breathing that accompanies crying, then you can't really cry CONTINUOUSLY underwater.
I hope this response is coherent enough. :P

yes absolutely nice observation, well I know spontaneously our lacrimal glands or tear glands as youve said produces tears...but it's really nice to know that crying promote heavy breathing as we all know... maybe it's rally possible in a short period of time ahehe I really like your answer really...

Hey! I just thought of something. I remember watching one of the TV shows in our country, like a talkshow or something, you know, like Oprah (well, not exactly, just a little like it). The host is a well-known singer/actress and I think the topic then was something heartbreaking because she was crying at the end. And since she usually sings at the end, she was singing while crying... which is really hard because you can't regulate your breathing when singer, often than not.
So. If she can cry continuously, while singing at the same time. I bet she can hold her breath and cry underwater too.
Yeah, I know, this is totally random. But I had to share, you know? :P

EDIT: That, "you can't regulate your breathing when singer, often than not." is "breathing when CRYING". Gaaaah. I wish there was an edit feature in mylot.
(or, uh, maybe I should learn to proofread. ;))

Actually this is quite an interesting question! I would assume that yes we can but if we are talking sobbing for example then no we could not because sobbing also requires us to take in deep breaths at the same time..... I am sure that we CAN shed tears underwater but of course we can't see them!

crying is not something phsyical I think. This is why I believe we can cry in any kind of phsyical environment. Water wouldn't be a reason to prevent crying. It is not only your tear which is a proof of crying. In the other hand, you will already leave tear if you are crying in water. the only difference will be that the tear won't be dropping anywere but will mix itself into water so fast.

yes you can definately cry underwater. Its something irrespective of wher you are you can always relax your mind and cry out loud. I have tried it out and you can also try the same whenever you want to.
