Off to the Vet I go!

We just took in a cat that no one knows its age or if she has even been to the Vet before. All we know is that we are her 4th home and her previous owner had her for a year. I can't stand the fact that people pass animals around like this so for better or worse, she will always remain a part of our family. I have begun noticing some problems with her health. I would of hoped to catch it sooner than I did but it has taken her a while before she would allow any of us around her. First I noticed from a distance that she was not eating much. When she finally felt comfortable to come to us we noticed her mouth is not able to close. I can't tell if her bottom lip is gone or her entire lower gum is swollen. Either way I think she is in discomfort if not pain. Then today she began vomitting violently all over the hall way and bathroom. She is growing constantly at all of us so it is hard to get near her to try to comfort her. When I was cleaning up her vomit, I could tell it was not a hairball but it did consist of the food she had ate. What concerned me more was that she had red stuff in there but it wasn't runny like blood. Has anyone ever seen this before?

I have never seen anything like this either. I can't be sure but the first thing that came to mind was that her previous 3 owners or at least one of them who knows, didn't care very well for her. How can you get this far without recognizing some typ of signs along the way?
