Make a difference: Sign the petition to have water pitcher filters recycled

You think you are doing good by not buying bottled water and using Brita filtered water instead, right? Well, you are, but wouldn't you like to do more? This petition is asking for Brita to offer a recycling program so that once everyone stops using bottled water, we don't send 167 million filter cartridges to landfills each year. That's a good idea, although I know this discussion is over a year old. Do you know if there's been any progress made on the recycling efforts of water filters? I just bought one yesterday, although not the pitcher, it's the type that hooks up directly to the faucet.
