Obama has adopted U2's "City of Blinding Lights" as his official campaign song. When he comes out to the stage for speaches, this is the song playing. Reading over the lyrics, I can't see why he would choose it, but I see that it describes Obama's campaign of ego, slight of hand, slick advertizing and "how can we fool them today".
The more you see the less you know
The less you find out as you go
I knew much more then than I do now
Neon heart dayglo eyes
A city lit by fireflies
They’re advertising in the skies
For people like us
And I miss you when you’re not around
I’m getting ready to leave the ground….
Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
In the city of blinding lights
Don’t look before you laugh
Look ugly in a photograph
Flash bulbs purple irises
The camera can’t see
I’ve seen you walk unafraid
I’ve seen you in the clothes you made
Can you see the beauty inside of me?
What happened to the beauty I had inside of me?
And I miss you when you’re not around
I’m getting ready to leave the ground
Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
In the city of blinding lights
Time… time
Won’t leave me as I am
But time won’t take the boy out of this man
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
In the city of blinding lights
The more you know the less you feel
Some pray for others steal
Blessings are not just for the ones who kneel… luckily
I tell you, Wierd Al Himself would be hardpressed to come up with a better parody of Obama and he chose this himself! lol

"Reading over the lyrics...I see that it describes Obama's campaign of ego, slight of hand, slick advertizing and "how can we fool them today"."
The song is about the aftermath of 9/11, you jerk. Shame on you for trying to turn a sentiment like that into another classless smear.
"Bono has also remarked he was inspired by a concert the band played in New York City on their Elevation Tour following the terrorist attacks of September 11. It was the band's first time back in the city since the attacks occurred. When the lights went up during one of the songs, he could see tears streaming down the faces of fans. It was this passion and emotion of the city's fans that partially inspired the song." --http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_Of_Blinding_Lights#History

Waste of human flesh, I don't care what Bono intended the song to mean, the words fit that idiot, empty headed, freedom hating Marxist, Obama to a T. You can take all the offense you want, but it only proves your own lack of the ability to think for yourself.
I'm sure it's an awesome song when Bono sings it, but it can't mean much to him if he was willing to sell it to a political campaign.

lol, so all songs become meaningless once they're used in any political context? Ridiculous.
This is beyond infantile, lol. Is there anything even tangentially attached to Obama you won't attack?

Nope, actually, I like the fact that he plans on increasing the military troop strength and spending, but I doubt many of his anti military supporters like that part of his plan.

Well, he couldn't have chose a more befitting song could he? I have been watching the Democratic Convention, and I tell you, they don't need admirers, they are in love with themselves. I must say though Hillary did give an inspiring speech tonight. I bet the party was bashing their heads after her speech saying "Man we chose the wrong candidate!" I will stop now before I offend someone, LOL

I'll tell you what, I'd like to hear what Ol' Wierd Al himself would have to say about this. Hopefully, even more Obama supporters will now seriously question Obama's view point.
I see MANY Obama supporters in the near future, reading the lyrics, gettting a puzzled look on their faces, face palming and muttering out loud, "WTF?".
Or, they'll laugh themselves silly at old foggies like us who 'Don't get it!'.

I know I am way out of my leauge when it comes to music but I have a song that would make a better thyme song for the Obama's, Carly Simon's You're So Vain.
You walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht
Your hat strategically dipped below one eye
Your scarf it was apricot
You had one eye in the mirror as you watched yourself go by
And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner
They'd be your partner, and...
You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you
You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? don't you?
You had me several years ago when I was still quite naive
Well you said that we made such a pretty pair
And that you would never leave
But you gave away the things you loved and one of them was me
I had some dreams, they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee, and...
You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you
You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? don't you? don't you?
I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee, and...
You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you
You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? don't you?
Well I hear you went up to Saratoga and your horse naturally won
Then you flew your jet up to Nova Scotia
To see the total eclipse of the sun
Well you're where you should be all the time
And when you're not you're with
Some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend
Wife of a close friend, and...
You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you
You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? don't you? don't you?
