international coastal cleanup

September is almost here and that means it's almost time for the 2008 international coastal cleanup, a global event that happens every year. Volunteers from around the world will wake up early on Saturday September 20th, 2008, and find their way to one of their local beaches to help clean up the garbage left there to rot and destroy the beauty of the landscape as well as endanger the lives of wildlife on the beaches and in the sea. I hope more people join the cleanup campaigns this year, because the more people join, the more the word gets out and hopefully one day we will have more volunteers than people who throw trash on the beach and then we might wake up one Saturday in September to find there is no garbage to pick up on the beach-what a great day that will be! :) For more info and to find out about cleanup campaigns in your area, visit the Ocean Conservancy website: www.oceanconservancy.org
