Hello dear sarahruthbeth. Before responding to this discussion of yours, I have read the response of youless'. I agree with her. Also I love the opening ceremony very much. I was so excited to watch it on TV. As has been talked so much about the hard job of successfully applying for the host country of the Olympics, China has eventually made it. While watching the ceremony, I could not help getting so excited as to shed tears excitedly, which is one of the greatest moment in the long history of China. As a Chinese, I am very proud of my country, hosting the Olympics with great success. Every Chinese gets excited for this, and so does the majority of people globally. The Olympics Games is held successfully with the support from different walks of lines. It is one of the greatest events of the year 2008. I am not only happy to see Chinese athletes win medals, but also very happy and excited to see athletes from other countries win medals. The Games has been deeply rooted in my mind with so many wonderful exciting scenes and excellent athletes. I am also very excited to see so many leaders from different countries and VIP at the opening ceremony, which shows their showing great value to the Games or the historical event and moment. The successful opening ceremony shows the public its long history with wonderful performances. China is making great progress in many ways and its people are happy with every single progress it has made. I am very happy to live on the stage of life, when the Government is doing its best to make its people live a better life, though there is still much waiting to be improved. Thank you for your discussion. Good day.

I almost cried too. It was so beautiful. And I am so glad that there wasn't a major foul up, everything went so well. You should be proud and I wouldn't be surprised if you get to host another summer Games. Youless told me that you, my Chines friends, are more into Summer Olympics than Winter. I thought China could host a Winter Olympics but I now don't think it will happen. But there are cities who have hosted the Olympics more than once. Why not Beijing?

I was totally amazed on how they did the giant floating rings while there are a multitude of stars in the background. But I am somewhat saddened by the controversy brought out by the lipsync issues of the girl and the children. I really don't see the issue on that. Of course, the host will not risk the event on giving a live performance from small children.

I would have to say my favorite was when Misty May-Traenor sprinkled a bit of her mom's ashes on the sand after winning the Gold Medal. Her mom was so important to her and her sand volleyball. It was touching. Second was the opening ceremonies, for the same exact reason as you stated. All the athletes were as one, no competing, just together in the arena. PEACE

I would have to also say the opening ceromony it was deffintley a spectacle. Even though I did not watch all of it only caught the last hour or so. But that was truly incredible how they lit the torch thats something that ill probally never forget untill some country beats them which I doubt they will.

I didn't see the opening ceremonies, although I heard that they were spectacular. I think that my favourite moment was seeing Ian Miller get a medal in Equestrian. It was his ninth olympics and he had come fourth many times, but this was his first time to break into the medals.
