When I was a kid something happened.

The date is Saturday, February 14, 1976. A very bright and sunny and somewhat warm Valentine's Day in Michigan. I am 10. It's a beautiful day out, but one problem exists. The night before, a Friday the 13th--I come down with Rotavirus, which messes my Valentine's day up. My friend (I'll call him Salaam), 9, shows up wanting to spend the day with me. I tell him I'd love to, but I am really sick. He says, "Well then, this is our last day as friends." What do you think of someone like this. How would you handle this situation? Would you try to talk to him/her, or would you accept the fact that the person you THOUGHT was your bf was actually, someone, as my late first summer love, CC, would say, wasn't 'bout nothin'?

When you are young you don't understand what love is so letting him go will not kill you. I believe at that age all you are looking for is a friend and when you get shot down no matter the reason it hurts but you will recover. If it was me I would let that friend go because if that friend didn't care enough to at least let you rest while you were sick than that's not a friend. If he is really a friend he will soon realize how important you are and apologize.

I think it to be a childs display of emotion. That is the age one cannot understand what illness is. I would like to know one thing. I cannot tell how I would have handled the situation because I am now a grown up and grown ups think a lot different from children. I would like to know, did he really mean it, that is did he e friends with you later

Hello angusthethird, I am very sorry to hear that story what happened to you when you were ten, really he was only 9, you were both children and not understanding that you were ill, he really didn't mean that surely, did see him when you recoverd from your illness? you shouldn't take it to heart.
