how to think of handling/managing variety of people and behaviour

Have anyone dealt with managing or handling person/s or teams. I am sure one must have because in our day to day life we deal with variety of people and there various behaviours and attitudes. At times we would like some and would also hate some but still we need to deal with them. SO in such circumstances what can be the best process that can be followed.

The biggest thing is consistences.Be the same to all.If you want to be tough,be tough to all ,If you want to be soft be soft to all.Structured parameters and consistence.Praise in public,criticize in private,never take a persons dignity when speaking with them.When the one in charge is the same every day the people will adjust to them,and a team will develop from inside out.
