While I am busy here in mylot, my youngest baby, he'll be turning 4 months on September 10 (yey!..hmm, what will I have to cook then) is also busy with his hands. He is sucking them like crazy. I stopped mylotting for a while to offer my breast but he just won't take it. He lies his fingers better
I wonder, why is it that kids love thumb sucking? My tow older kids never did that so I can say I am very new tot his. What do you do to prevent it? I heard that there are some problems that could occurs because of this, like crooked teeth, is it true? MY sister thumb suck until she was grade school and the only problem with her is her lips is protruding
Do I need to stop him from doing so? Help! and why you are busy helping me, I'll go try to persuade him again to have my breast instead.

Ohhh so cute!!! How I wish I also have one like that!
Thumb sucking is one of a baby's natural reflexes but I believe you have nothing to worry about. It goes to show your baby is becoming so clever for he has founda way to calm himself. It is actually encouraged in babies by oldies because as per their wise judgment it helps babies find something to be busy about so they become happy babies and they turned not into a cry baby. About the dangers of thumb sucking on baby's teeth, there is no problem because normally the thumb sucking ceases as they grow older. Those who did not give up till they reach grade school will really face dental deformation but I think this happens when the child is not emotionally stable. It depends on the mother. For as long as you give enough love and comfort to your baby, he will grow up to be a confident and secure person and therefore no problem with thumb sucking.

Hi, pehpot..I also posted a thread like this a few months ago, I think..
My baby then was only 9 months(now he's almost a year old) and been sucking his thumb or the whole fingers to the max..Seems, they feel comfortable and safe when sucking it..Though it doesn't always mean that they are hungry..It has been their bestfriend since they learned how to suck...they might be even doing that since they were inside us..It's the only thing that is readily available wherever and whenever they want it.
Best if you leave him to his sucking, as long as he doesn't reach grade school and still doing it..That would surely pose some problem to his teeth..
They said it will stop eventually, so I don't do anything to push him into stopping..Thou I have observed that it has lessened and does that when he's about to sleep..
Let's just both hope that they will let go when the time comes...
