We received a mail yesterday that our phone plan will increased starting on October, so hubby and I tried to search for a lower plan than what we will be having by October and we found one..We are planning to change next month..It has a great offer! When fees are often changed and the increase is very significant, do you also change plan right away? or you will just bear with it?

Hi che, I have been using prepaid card for quite some time for I don’t make many phone calls monthly. It’s quite economical to use prepaid card if compared with the postpaid. In those earlier days I used the RM30 ($10 US) prepaid card for a duration of 30 days and nowadays I had shifted to the RM10 card for 10 ten days. If the network of ten days is expired I still could receive calls from others. I don’t reload it immediately after the expired date. I normally would activate it some time later. I would activate it again if I really need to make a call. I like to communicate with my loved ones and friends via email or messenger and this could save me quite a considerable amount of money. posting and take care.

You have reminded me that I need to change my phone plan. People hardly use this phone for making calls. I got it only because I need the Internet. So, I want to use the most basic plans. :) Well, I am a bit lazy to keep track of all these offers. But if I catch a really good offer that suits me, I sure will grab it. :) Cheers and happy mylotting

Hi checapricorn! I haven't changed my phone plan since I got it more than a year ago. I am under Php 1,200 ($27) plan but most of the time I have a monthly bill of Php 1,300-Php 1,500 ($30-$35). I'm thinking of demoting my plan though to Php 800 and have it temporarily disconnected if ever I exceeded within the cut-off period. I really need to save up and besides, I don't really call that often and my free consumable minutes of talk time are being rarely used. Sometimes I only get to consume half of the minutes and exceed on my consumable SMS. I don't know. Maybe when I have a job, I'll be able to think straight and straight out my budget for monthly bills and decide whether or not I could afford my cell phone plan together with my DSL bill and other daily expenses.

I love to change my phone plan as well, and there will always be deals here and there in my country like more talk-time hours, more text messages promotions and anything like that. But I hate the contract bound that comes with it each time.

You are welcome my friend. In my country it takes around 2 years to complete a phone contract and that's a real bummer, ha!

i also do the same thing like you... when the phone plan is getting more and more expensive and we can't afford it anymore, me and my hubby will go and change the plan definitely... in fact, my hubby is planning to do something with his mobile phone plan because his 2 years contract had finished and we just want to look for a cheaper plan now... we might change the provider as well... take care and have a nice day...

I would do it if the other company would offer the lower plan with free installation... that usually happens... and that serves to attract subscribers to change provider... but i haven't tried it yet... the cable company just increased the monthly payment... but since there is only one cable company in my area... i have no choice but to go with the flow...

Hello checapricorn, It is quite sometimes since I last used post paid plan. Right now, I only have prepaid plan. So, I don't have to think about all kind of plans that the telecommunication companies here offer us. I seldom use my cell phone unless it is very important. So, whenever I need more credit, I will buy more prepaid. If not, $10 is just enough for me to survive for a month *smiles*

In my house, we don't make too many calls but receive most. There is a company which lets us have incoming calls free. We also have phone to phone free for our cellphones. On top of this after 7pm we can even call long distance for free. It works for us.

I am sorry to hear that your plan will be increased starting in October and I am glad that you have searched and found a lower plan and that you are planning on changing next month and I am glad it has a great offer, and I think if fees were to increase a significant amount then my parents would bear with it for a while before looking for a new plan, and I think me and my fiance would probably do the same if we were in that situation.

I agree, it's not practical to spend more if we got an option! I will be glad that we can save some bucks from the new provider! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Che, We are in the same boat. Our cellphone bills is so high now. We cut off our land line a year ago and use only cellphones, each of us have one unit. Every time we received our bill, seems like an agony. $249.00 a month? So, then we decided to switch to another company and another phone plan. We've found one which has a very good offer and good service too. We will reconnect our land line plus 1 unit of cellphone. It is lower pay than what we used to have with unlimited calls. Sometimes it is reasonable to change even specially if the budget is so tight. Have a nice day.

Hi Bebs, I agree with you..It is not practical to pay higher where we can save from other plan and company! We also cut off our land line since both of us have cell phone and we are enjoying it and just informed that they will increase! Hmm...bye bye to them soon, we can't afford anymore!

We are looking at cancelling our landline as we both have cell phones and it only gets used to record messages when others phone us when we are not home. I think we are paying for something we hardly ever use. We are also going to cancel our cable subscription and just go with basic cable as we are not making full use of that service either and paying extra money for channels we hardly ever watch. I mean we use to watch a lot of cable when we first subscribed, but nowadays we don't watch as much so we are cancelling the extra services they give us and just go with basic cable. Will probably save a lot in the process.

Good morning checapricorn, I dont' really have to worry about that, since the phone is under my mother's name, she worked for Pacific Bell aka AT&T and they give their employee's, retire employee's a good discount. her bill along is 5 dollars a month, we pay for the internet which is 29.00 no more than 30.00 dollars a month. her plan has call waiting, message center, three way calling and unlimited long distance. she get's a good deal, if we had to pay I know we be paying at less over 100 a month.

hi, checapricorn, you took a right decisssion, but i have notided one thing these company keep the plan in a way that still we willpay them more, it the monthly rental is low the calling rate will be high, on toehr hand if the monthly rental is high the calling rate eill be low. only few plans to are good which realy benifist the end user. enjoy :)

We do often change if the price rise is significant yes, it just depends on what the rise is and if there are any penalties for leaving the other plan. We have just recently changed our house insurance policy because the other one went up a lot in such a short space of time.

I have unlimited plan & price doesn't really change that often... I've had mine for few month now... I do check on line to see if the price of the "unlimited" plan ever changes...

for me as long as the service is good i am ok to go. sometimes cheap deals just mean more troubles later on.
