Last night, I wanted a snack before heading off to bed but didn't know what I wanted. So, I meandered into the kitchen to see what I could find. Once I saw the peanut butter jar, my mouth started watering! Okay, that was it... peanut butter and jelly sandwich. My preference for jelly is apple, so that was what I ate. It was sooooooo good!!! Comfort food, maybe? Are peanut butter and jelly sandwiches one of your comfort foods? When was the last time you had one? What kind of jelly do you prefer on them?

I rarely eat them, but when I do I always enjoy them. My son loves to get them in his lunch for school. I made him one this morning again. He even asked for one for a bedtime snack last night. I prefer strawberry jam and so does he.

I adore strawberry jam! That seems to be a favorite among most people, in fact. I've never had it with peanut butter, though. I'm going to have to try it. I have strawberry jelly in a cupbord, so I'll start with that and get the jam next time. I hated peanut butter for a long time because, when my sister and I were young, we had a 'nanny' who made us eat peanut butter sandwiches every single day! No jelly or jam, just peanut butter and bread. I learned to hate the stuff and didn't eat it for years! But, once I was out on my own, I decided to try it again and I'm glad I did. The jelly makes the peanut butter so much easier to eat. It doesn't get stuck to the roof of your mouth!

PB no jelly? I would gag on that. What a mean nanny you had.

Yeah, it was pretty nasty! It was so dry, we'd drink all our milk and ask for more! (Maybe that was why she did it!) She was a mean one, she was! Corn flakes every day for breakfast, too. I got to hate them as well. I've eaten them since, but usually I stay away from them.

We have been having that as breakfast for quite a while now. My favorite jelly would be strawberry. I tried with grape jelly before but did not really lik the combination. Hmm... apples sounds nice. I may try some the next time I go out to get a fresh jar of jam. Doesn't go very well with peach or apricot jelly though. With cranberry, it was ok. Strawberry is still the best in my opinion. So, peanut butter, is it crunchy and chunky or smooth and creamy?

Like I said, I have yet to try apple flavor jelly with peanut butter. Actually if you like to eat jelly with sandwiches, you can try cheese (either spread or sliced) and slap a generous portion of strawberry jelly or jam on it. Mmm~~~ Mmmm~~~ MMmmmmmm~~~ Super yummy combination that is worth every bite! I get cravings for stuff like that once in a while. The combination of the salty and sweet flavor is really very very nice!

The type of peanut butter is entirely up to you. I prefer smooth and creamy now but there was a time when I loved the chunky kind. I love strawberry jelly, too. Strawberry and apple are my two favorite fruit flavors in anything I eat.

Agreed, PB&J's are always good comfort. I have not had one in a long time, but I might again once I am healed up from surgery. Right now, I am on a special diet because I had surgery almost a week ago, and I can only eat things that will help in my healing process.

I had a pilonidal cyst removed from my buttock (no joke, I have a real pain in my butt), and I can only eat things that will make me go to the restroom without causing me much pain. I know, it stinks. Anyway, I eat anything with fiber, a lot of water, juices, greens, and meat. If it cleans my system, I am eating it.

I wish you great speed in the healing process! I do hope it wasn't anything too serious. Maybe a good PB&J sandwich will help? I mean, it IS comfort food, after all! I'm just kidding. It sounds like it must've been some type of abdominal/gastrointestinal type of surgery for you to be on a special diet almost a week after surgery? I truly do wish you the very best and a rapid recovery! Take care!

There is nothing like the great late night snack of peanut butter and jelly. A spoonful of peanut butter really helps a person sleep better at night, I think. It goes great with a glass of milk.

Hmmm, maybe a glass of warm milk? I've heard that works to help you sleep, but never tried it. I DO know that after eating my sandwich, I wanted to just lie down and drift right off.

You gain weight by not eating? Wow! I know a LOT of dieters who would love your secret!!! You really should eat, though. Heck, in your case, you just might lose weight by eating, since you gain by not eating. I have health issues so I have to be careful about the way I eat. I eat several small meals a day instead of 3 large ones. Well, my 'meals' are more like snacks. I only eat healthy stuff, too; no fast food for me (even though I adore it)! You're not on antidepressants of any kind, by any chance, are you? They're notorious for putting weight on you even if you don't eat much at all. I know... been there, done that. I'm just curious.

Oh, heck. I forgot a very important part of that first sentence. I meant to say, "I know a lot of dieters who are trying to GAIN weight who would love your secret."

I love peanut butter sandwiches!! I usually eat grape jelly with my peanut butter, if I put jelly on it. Sometimes I just make me a plain peanut butter sandwich. It is good, too! I think I made me a peanut butter sandwich one day last week. I would have had one yesterday for lunch if my husband hadn't been home.

Yum! Apricot! I LOVE the variety among jams and jellies! My kids used to insist on the swirled peanut butter and jelly stuff. I wasn't too fond of it myself but that's probably because I grew up with it being in two different jars. Geesh, all this talk about PB&J sandwiches has made me want another one! Good think I just bought fresh milk yesterday!

I would have to say that peanut butter and jelly is a good comfort food. I like them a lot. Sometimes I will even toast my bread. I enjoy different types of jelly. I like to put strawberry jam on my bread. I really enjoy the sweet taste of preserves as well.

I love them. I love strawberry jelly. I keep a box of "Uncrustables" in my freezer. A lot of mornings, I have one for breakfast. Only problem with Uncrustables is you can ONLY get grape or strawberry jelly. I love apple jelly too. So sometimes I make my own. Sometimes I toast the bread first.

Nah, you're not weird, just different. It's never wrong to be different! I was forced to eat peanut butter sandwiches (no jelly) when I was young and we had a nanny. She was like a drill sergeant! Corn flakes for breakfast and peanut butter sandwiches for lunch every single day. I got so sick of eating them!!! I didn't eat them for quite a long time after I grew up. But, once I was on my own, I started experimenting with cooking and food preparation and learned that I actually LIKED peanut butter sandwiches, but ONLY if they had jelly on them. The peanut butter without jelly was/is simply too dry for me. I love your daughter's sandwich... just jelly. Can't go wrong with that!

Last time I had one?? Lets see... breakfast, lunch, dinner, then snack. I honestly eat at least one EVERY DAY. When I was sick my hubby had to go to the store for me to get my medicine and he came back with bread two kinds of jelly and chunky pb. His response was "thats the only thing i remembered that you eat" SERIOUSLY! I didn't know what to say... He was definitely right!

I love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I went through a phase when I stopped eating PB but now I love it. My favorite is peanut butter and strawberry jam on dense whole grain bread.

apple jelly I have never tried that before. We use strawberry in our home. I grew up on grape but once I got married hubby would only want strawberry and its so yummy so thats what we eat now. My 3 year old wants a sammitch as she calls it just about every other day and I cut it into 4 and sneak a bite lol. Sometimes I crave peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with a glass of cold milk. So yummy.

I love my PB&J! Its funny, because as a kid PB&J wasn't a staple, but peanut butter and marshmallow was (fluffernutter!). As I grew up and joined the Marine Corps and left New England, I realized that PB&J was the norm elsewhere, and you couldn't always find marshmallow in a jar in other parts of the country. I love PB&J now and often have it on toast, as I did for breakfast this morning. Sometimes I'll make PB&J for lunch or a quick snack, like you did.

Wow this topic has my mouth watering. I would love a Peanut butter and jelly sandwich.... But, I am allergic to wheat. So it has been a while sense I had one. Wheat gives me some flu liked symtoms. Not very Pleasant.. I love things that are made with wheat it just does not love me back. I am going to have to find a bread substitute, soon.
