Do you segregate wastes at home?

It's made compulsory by the local government to segregate wastes. Separate biodegradable materials from non-biodegradable materials. In our case, we have four, big, and thick plastic containers where we put our wastes. We have a container for all tin and aluminum cans, a container for all plastics, a container for plastic bottles, and a container for all biodegradable materials except for papers. We collect papers, soak them in water for overnight. Once they are all soaked and soft, we form them into balls and let dry for 3 to 4 days and when they're already dry, we use them as charcoal or what we call "uling balls" for cooking food. As for breakable bottles, we collect them also and sell. Some plastic bottles can also be sold. The government trucks collect our garbage in our area. How about you, how do you do the segregation of your wastes?

I could see that you are very organized in your home. That's admirable djoyce. You are doing the right thing. We really should do that. We are not only helping the community but we could also earn some amount for selling those junks. I also do the same thing in our home so that when the garbage truck comes all those that could be sold have been safely segregated. And when it's time to sell those junks, it's my son who will pocket the money. Wahhhh!

It is a local ordinance that we use a recycle container (provided by our town) to collect all recyclables in. We do not have to seperate them out, tin, plastic, and glass all go into the recycle container. All other trash goes into the trash can, both are picked up once a week in our town. I think it is a good practice to recycle, and I think that there is a larger number of people doing it in a town where you have too. I have lived in other cities that provide a recycle bin and it is left up to the people to put it to use and recycle, even though it is picked up by the city, in those towns most people end up using the recycle bin for storage, or some other purpose.
