In need of a personal shopper

Is it just me but does anyone else find it really hard to find clothes that actually flatter you? I have watched so many programmes about dressing better, for the entertainment value, but then it always leaves me thinking that maybe I'm like the people on those programmes. I don't wear terrible clothes or anything but nothing I wear is something that people would think 'wow, where did she get that? she looks great'. Does anyone else have this problem and does it bother you?

I tend to shop in discount stores (being a college student) and on the upper size range of most normal shops, so it can be difficult for me to find things that flatter my figure. Once in a while I get lucky, however. You have to do a great deal of trial and error to find out what works with your specific body type and why; figure out which colors look best on you, as well. For example, brown or black washes me out completely, but something like red will work really well, or blue (it makes my eyes look like they're glowing, haha)! If you can, talk to a costume designer or a tailor, or even someone who works at a high-end clothes store if you know anyone who does. They can give you a lot of really good advice if they know what they're doing. Actors can help as well (I got all my advice from my sister, who is an actress). Hope this helps!

I do most of my shopping at thrift stores, so I probably don't wear much that would really astound people. But to me, if it's comfortable, somewhat flattering, and fits my personal style, then I go with it. :)
