Hi, how much time do you spend on household chores, for example if you live alone, or you're in charge of cleaning, tidying etc etc, not including cooking?
I live by myself and I find it hard keeping up with dishes, vacuuming, etc etc, while working and studying :o.
How much time do you use to do household chores?

It depends on what type of housework. But I tell you... household chores or housework is a never ending task. Its always there. The question is... how much time are you willing to do with it. Before, I used to spend lots of time cleaning the house, cooking, washing dishes and laundry. Now, I spend less of my time doing those tasks.. To hell with the dirt and dirty dishes...lol... I just want to rest, lay down in my bed and watch tv or movie.

gees i feel like that too. but i want it to resolve. like i want there to be a stae where it feels 'finished' or tidy now, but theres always things to improve on, its hard. thats why i wanted to find out the average time it took people to clean up. maybe i just need to set a time limit so i dont obsess or get depressed over it, and just get whats important done. YEah me too, i would rather watch a movie than do housework who wouldn't :P unless u love cleaning :D

There only my husband and me in the apartment with no kids yet. So it's very easy to manage the housework. Would mop the floor everyday. I don't use a broom to sweep first then only mop. I use a long handle microfiber mop to mop the floor. The dust and particles all get stuck on the fiber. So it's time saving - a two in one job. As for washing the bathroom and toilet, I'll wash it when i take a bath. I find that regular cleaning makes it easier for me rather then don't clean have a major cleaning day. Other than this whatever item that's taken out we just put them back to where they belong.

it depends on the chores.. for example, in laundry, i mostly spend 2-3 hours.. for the cooking, 1-2 hours.. for cleaning the house,4-5 hours..

I must say that I love doing housework. I would not have been a housewife if i did not enjoy it. I think I am more suited to do the chores at home than to work in an office. being a housewife means you are the boss and you decide on what has to be done and when. I don't run around completing the housework but I take them slow and steady.
i make sure I do the work taken in hand properly and I am not done unless I satisfy myself doing it. Cleaning and dusting of the house takes around 30-40 minutes. I live in a condominium with 2 bedrooms, I living room, 2 bathrooms, 2 w/c, 1 kitchen and a not so small open terrace. I guess 40 minutes is good enough to get the house cleaned properly.
I do the dishes after I am done with my cooking. They take round 25 minutes. I make sure I do the dishes on a daily basis. Doing too many dishes at a time is too boring and irritating. By the way doing the dishes without the dishwasher is the least favorite activity of mine.
I do the laundry once in two days and on a daily basis I hand wash the undergarments only. Now with a baby in the house there are too many clothes to be washed daily and I don't find it to be a good idea to wash the baby's clothes in the washing machine. So that takes a lot of time. I am washing clothes daily for around an hour.

My mom felt the same way. She loved cleaning. She said cleaning made her feel good. But for me, cleaning is a chore, I do it so that the results are good (ie cla clean house :o). Rarely doesn't cleaning feel good while DOING it, unless im angry about something, or have some extra aggression to take out, by cleaning stuff hehe :D. Take that you dusty floor! Yeah i have to be in particular moods to enjoy cleaning for some reason : o. otherwises, dirty dishes and random mess depresses me

As little as possible... LOL
No I do it as I go along!!! I'm not as houseproud as I was when we only had one child. Every week I keep saying I am going to get houseproud again, but it goes along the wayside.
I like to think we live in a lived in house and we are a happy family. Plenty of time to become houseproud again later in my life

We have kids so it seems like we are always doing housework. From laundry to washing clothes those two alone seem never to end. Picking up toys happens multiple times each and every day. When I lived by myself I never really seemed to do housework. Oh how things change with a family.

one look at my home and you'll know the answer to that INSTANTLY !
yes, i hate housework. even living alone with 2 cats, i find it needs
redoing all too quickly. dishes pile up as i have no dishwasher, laundry needs
done when i have nothing to wear. shopping gets done when i have little to eat.
gosh, i sound like a spoiled teenager !
my mother lives alone, too, and she cleans for herself. it's always
immaculate.
when i think back, i know i've always hated housework. the ONLY thing i always do
is to clean the litter box. i get "presents" if i don't do this every other day.
