Old Discussions-- restart old or post new?

If you wanted to start a discussion on something and searched and found it does exist but the most recent reply on it is several months old would you just comment on that existing discussion or start a new topic? I'm still learning the ropes here and I'm not sure which is the right thing to do. I see some of the same discussions over and over again but just worded different that are literally days apart and I can see that being wrong, I'm assuming it's a matter of people not searching for that discussion before posting it themselves. But when the only similar discussions are months old would it be good to just start it new since there are probably a lot of new members in that time who would be willing to discuss that topic?

I think it's beter to start a new discussion that not have been started by other myLotter. Because every myLotter hope they will see a new discussion that can be respond it. But it's according to everyone, they can start a same discussion, maybe in other word, because in outside many new myLotter haven't know it and they will try to replied.

That's a tough one. Usually people only respond to recent discussions, but at the same time you don't want to start the same discussion over and over again. If you did the research and found an older discussion similar to what you're thinking about starting, read all the responses. Did it answer all of your questions? If not, then start a new discussion. Maybe list what you learned by reading old discussions, but still ask any remaining questions you have that weren't answered. That way you're not stating the exact same discussion again, and new people can respond and hopefully help you out!

i'd rather respond to the old discussion and open up a new one than restarting the old because i know that even though those posts are already aging, new members can still read them.. and for me, opening a new discussion would attract more members to read. Also, when you restart an old post, i think that you'll be getting more or less the same responses with those of the old one..

i try to write new discussions every time because the thing that mylotters do is against rules i think its duplicating in my opinion but i dont know exactly admins will decide that , anyway happy mylottings
