This is a 20 year old story already. One year we did Thanksgiving at my house for the first time. Actually went pretty well. It was almost time to serve dinner, the turkey was out and I was about to make gravy with the drippings. My mother-in-law sees the flour bag and whips the spoon out of my hand, yanks out some corn starch that she conveniently brought with her and starts making gravy her way. Well the way my mom made gravy was to get rid of all but a couple of tbsp of grease, soak it up with flour, add water and stir until it thickened. I never did learn to make gravy with corn starch. lol But if she ever pulls that one on me again, I'll be yanking that spoon right out of her hand and (depending on my mood lol) either telling her that it's my darn house and this is how I make gravy. Or telling her that she had better show me how to make the darn corn starch gravy because that's the only way she's getting it. but I don't have an attitude, really. :-)

I feel for you, my first m-i-l was a royal pain. Never got to meet the woman who'd have been my second mother-in-law but I've heard that she was wonderful. If she tries that again, remember you have a (hopefully) non-lethal weapon in the form of a drumstick! LOL

In-Laws are unpredictable...which is why we all have a love hate relationship with them.
