I know it is "standard practice" for the conventions going on right now, and for the big wigs to get up there and promote and push their candidate. ALl the famous people up there, telling how great the candidate is and what the candidate will mean to this country - etc, etc, etc. However, I am so sick of it! I mean, like Michelle Obama is going to say anything derogatory about her husband. Or Ted Kennedy is going to down play the Demo party. DO you think Hillary is going to say anything bad about him or anything other than push to vote for him? Is Bill CLinton going to tell anything about why NOT to vote for Obama? okay, well, maybe Bill might not be so forceful about it all, but you get my point. I really don't care what these famous, wealthy, "if he wins, I get my way" people have to say about a candidate. I want to hear from people like me - as to why I should vote for that candidate. What is Obama or McCain going to do for people like me? What have they done for people like me - you know the common ordinary, pay check to pay check living, hard working, stretching the dollars till Washington grins, kind of person. What is he going to do for me and what has he done for others like me. I don't care what he has done for a wealthy person or a famous person...what's he done for the working man - the single moms, the double job people that make this country go round? I know that the famouse people are the attention draweres, but at the same time, do you want attention or votes? What do you think? Do you want to know what the candidate will do for you and hear what the canddiate has done for others like you?Do you really care what a famous celebrity or government person has to say about them? WOuld you vote for someone just cause your favorite movie star says they are voting for that person? I think they should have regular people up there talking and promoting. I could care less what Hillary has to say about Obama (and this is not just toward Obama - it is ALL political conventions for voting - both sides - I just say Obama as his convention is going on right now). How about some farmers that are going bankrupt - lets hear what they have to say about why they are voting for Obama and not McCain or visa versa. How about the low income people living pay check to pay check while working multiple jobs - I want to hear from them why they are voting for Obama or McCain. What about you? Who would you like to hear from to encourage your vote?

Tonight the candidates for the municipal election were out in full force, and I got to meet one of them tonight. I think I'm also going to be on TV in a few days, because of the interview we had with eachother. There were cameras and all kinds of people in the square. He seems like a very nice guy, so I think I am going to vote for him. It was an interesting experience.

I don't mean this in any way but as conversation - But are you voteing for this guy cause you honestly know and believe in what he is saying he will do, or just cause you had a nice time with him, was on TV and all that hoopla and as you said, "think he is a very nice guy so I think I am going to vote for him"?

Let me state first that celebrity endorsments mean squat to me. Alice cooper once said, "If your going to listen to a rock star to tell you how to vote, than your as stupid as they are". As for the conventions, it is pretty much them preaching to the choir. The rest is all pomp and circumstance. If your there and listening your in all likelyhood already a commited member of the party and no speaker is going to sway you either way.

Preaching to their own choir - wow - that just says it all! And I use that phrase all the time! And I agree with your statment : "If your there and listening your in all likelyhood already a commited member of the party and no speaker is going to sway you either way". Either that or it is a free "business tax writ-off"!
