Has anybody out there been saving time, money and gas,on the grass. lets think about this: Cutting down on mowing by 1/2 would save the coountry a lot of money and keep gas and oil prices down .saving the economy lots. Here's how i do it ...I mow the grass every other week in stead of every week as long as you don't have an ordenence with the city ...I also put the blade up one knoch,it saves power on the mower and saves gas too! My neighbor cuts every week as close to the groud as he can get .Takes more power, burns more gas....my lawn looks greener and healthy ...curtain weeds stick up sometime ..but i'am helping the whole economy and thats worth it to me to see a few weeds....I live out in the country .-with no ordenence's so i guess thats the difference ..what if we all did our part.. I would like to here from others ..lets start an energy saving club ..or talk back in forth here..have a greener and healthier day..... Nutriwiseguy

We have a huge yard and in past mowed it all weekly - we now mow the front every two weeks and the larger back section can actually go 3 weeks. Added note about the neighbor's lawn - mowing 'short' puts the grass into shock and it actually grows faster to try to save itself. Mowing a notch higher as you do and we do also not only saves gas but also is much better health wise for the grass, which in turn is healthy for us.

So my being lazy & not bothering to cut the grass is helping the economy? Woohoo..... Another excuse not to waste time on it. Now all I need is a goat to graze it down for me & I'm all set.

We mow every 10 to 12 days here. Although we do have a city ordinance where I live we can get away with letting it get a little tall but not past the gas meter height. I've already had the city man come bothering me when we first moved in here and told him we will get it mowed asap. Sure enough we did and he hasn't been back since. I don't think mowing the grass every week in necessary depending on where you live. There's a lot of things we have done in my household to cut down on the high gas prices and will continue to do so. If he worked in the same town that we live in the only gas we would need is to cook and mow the lawn.

We only mow our grass when it needs to be cut. And, we cut lots of grass. We are also in the country with no ordinance but like for our property to look nice all the time. I don't think that the amount of gas we use for cutting our grass would have any impact whatsoever on keeping oil and gas prices down. The government has a way of making prices rise when they want. Just look at Labor Day and you will see what I mean. They told last night that the storm hit Haiti (think that was the one), and oil prices would rise, which, when translated, means that gas prices will rise. One of the commentators for Fox said, "yes, just in time for Labor Day". It never fails. Our gas prices have really been coming down in the past couple weeks, only to find out they are about to start rising again.
