brand name products??

Hi, I need some advise on whether I should buy the expensive brand name skin care products from department stores. Are they really worth it? Do they give the results the promise?? A while ago a was using some homemade products that these ladies from work sold to me, they swear on them. They get them from a person that makes her own skin products from natural stuff and that the lady is like 60 years old and has great skin! Plus she says that natural stuff is much better for our skin and that it´s much less expensive and has the same results. A couple of my friends have bought it and one of them has very sensitive skin and says that those are the only products that really helped her. I´ve only used them for a month and they seem ok, so now i don´t know if i should keep on using them or switch back to the brand name ones......
