Have you ever been conned? i dont mean scammed online but face to face? I have not as yet,im not saying it wont happen,it just hasnt happened yet. My mum was always telling me i was far too trusting and gullibe and she got scammed,im not saying i was glad but there was some kind of poetic justice. Have you ever been on the receiving end of a grifter?

Unfortunately yes I have. I won't go into details but I am certainly FAR more wary today because of it. I am not sure how to respond to your comment regarding poetic justice for your Mother though! I just hope that it wasn't anything too serious and I hope that you did learn something from this regardless.

it was nothing too serious,she was hustled out of about £50, the only reason it was poetic justice is that she thought she was too clever to be conned,i told her that being conned is not about how smart you are its about how smart they are,anybody can be conned.

You are right especially if a person does not have any reason to think they are being conned. A few years ago I was taken in by a friend of my children. I was letting the young man stay in our home because he had been in school with them He led us to believe he was homeless but had some money coming in. The scam was a lot more involved than that and I won't go into the whole story, I blame myself for it happening I had a lot of stress in my life at that time and just was not paying attention to what was happening. When I found out the situation that he had got my daughter involved in I was able to step in and put a stop to it.
She ended up losing a little money but not a lot, she learned a valuable lesson and found out that sometimes you have to be careful of so called friends.
