When you go for a check-up at your doctor's office...`

Does your doctor chat with you or joke around with you? My doctor is initially all business, but about halfway through the check, she asks me about trips I've taken recently or places I've been shopping.
How does your doctor respond to you when you go in for a check-up? Friendly, smiling, or in a hurry, stern, and all business?

Ok Pearl, I just answered this question in the last discussion.
I told you how Dr. Friend and are forget why I came in because
we're so busy bsing that we forget the exam part. He's been my
Doc for 10 years and we've gotten to know each other very
well. I know about him and his wife and their pets and how
he loves to surf some other personal stuff which I shouldn't
know but he's a very personable guy and I was one of his very
first patients when he came to this medical group from his
job in Ohio. It was a big move for him. So he's just a very
friendly guy and his name suits him!

Hi Opal26!
I love your doctor's name! Dr. Friend sounds like a really fabulous guy, and doctor. A surfing doctor, somebody needs to write a song, or at least a poem about that. I bet he remembers you because you were there to see him on his first day of work after he moved. Oh, and probably because you are kind, interested, and friendly, too!
Thank you for taking part in this one, Opal.

He starts out businesslike so we get our business done, otherwise we could just talk and talk and never get any Doctoring in. But then he usually talks about something fun. He's studied many world religions, so that is one topic, he also knows a lot about a lot of subjects and so do I. So we talk about different things. He only hurries if he has a lot of patients schedules. Sounds like your Dr. is nice, too.

Writersedge,
It almost sounds interesting and fun to go to your doctor! That's great. And he gets down to business when he needs to. Also admirable. Yeah, I really appreciate having my doctor. Take care and thanks.

Greetings Jill.
Well, it seems that's what we all want. To get the exam over with and go on with our day. Nothing wrong there. And at least, he/she is friendly. Take care and thanks for your response.

Hi PearlGrace, I have yet to see the same doctor twice at my surgery and it is very rare that the locum will even speak good english let alone be able to have a joke and too be busy to even be bothered to do a proper examination so no time at all for chit chat. You sound like you have a good doctor. Ellie :D

Hey Ellie.
Hm, it seems it would be difficult to understand what the doctor is about to do procedure-wise if I cannot understand the language he/she speaks! I would not like that at all! Wow, it sounds like your doctors are quite busy! It's all so interesting to hear about how life is in other countries, isn't it? That's what makes myLot so great. Glad you joined this discussion, Ellie. Huggles.

Oh, I've been lucky to have the same doctor for about 10 yrs. now, he knows everything about me, so whenever I see him, he's smiling and friendly, and he jokes with me alot. I even know about his family, and I even know when his first grand-daughter was born...lol. I don't know what I will do if he ever decides to go to another hospital, it will be a sad day if that happens.

Hello walijo2008.
You do sound very blessed to have such a doctor. It seems that he is quite relaxed and so are you, which always helps when you have to get a doctor's check-up. Hopefully, he will stay right where he is. That way, he can be your doctor for at least another 10 years! Appreciate your comments, walijo2008.

The doctor I have right now is pretty friendly. We talk about things a little. It really depends on how busy he is. The last time I went his office was full so there wasn't any time for small talk.

Hey there sunnflr.
That's cool that you've got a doctor who openly communicates with you in a relaxed way. And it makes sense that he wouldn't be chatting when he was really busy. Sounds like you've got yourself a real winner. Thanks for commenting.

no, my dr is always pretty much all business. my previous dr was so cool and i really miss him. we used to chat and he told me about his life at med school and what he had written (we were both writers) but sadly, he passed away last fall due to a liver illness.
