Cycle paths

With the drive by the government to get people off of the roads in personal cars and onto public transport, you would expect to see an increase in the number of cycle paths/lanes. There are very few near to me and the ones that we do have are right up next to the curb meaning that you end up cycling in the gutter and have to either ride round or over grids and all manner of other obstacles. Who else cycles and would be happier to see an increase in dedicated cycle lanes? Do you think that your local government needs to do more if they are to encourage people out of cars and into other forms of transprt? Thanks James
