Sometimes the cat will take rats, birds or snakes home. Perhaps the cat show its friendship to you. But it is quite annoying that it take those home. What will you do if the cat take its prays home?

I have the solution for this problem. Keep your cat inside. I have four cats who are inside only. The only prey they bring me is bugs. I pick them up in a tissue and toss them. Then, the poor kitty looks all around for her bug.

Cats are active and they will try to find pleasures. If it can't find the bug, perhaps it will jump onto the window and try to catch flies.

My mil's cat used to kill things usually bird and rabbits but he'd just leave them either by the kitchen window or by the back door as an offering. My cats are indoor cats plus being in the "city" they are safer indoors and don't like being on a leash or outside to say the least.

Yes I agree with you cats do bring their preys home. As I analyzed it, the cat simply wanted to offer you something that they are good at, which is catching birds, rats or snakes as an appreciation of your kindness to them. It is a gift I suppose but a little scary. Our cat does that all the time. He will bring a live snake at home and impress us on how he would artistically kill the snake by allowing it to escape for a few seconds and grab it again or sometimes with a bite. It's torture for the prey but that's how the ecosystem works.

The cat is showing off to you what a good hunter she is. But I would make her eat it outside. Or remove it if she isn't eating it.

There's not much you can do. The reason cats bring their kills back to the house is because they know that it's a safe place to put their food - it's not really a sign of friendship!
