Say hello to your neighbor!

I live in a nice little neighborhood with a park nearby. i usually take my kid to the park everyday and we meet the same people there and have a nice chat in the afternoon. Some of them live on my same block,others liver further, but we´ve seen each other frequently. Normally when i arrive i say hello to everybody there and even converse with some of them but i´ve noticed that some people can look at you straight in the eye and not even say hello. Where have our manners gone? I was taught to say hello,greet people or say goodbye at least. Even more so if we are neighbors. I have some neighbors that i know very well,we go over to their house or just hang out. We have each others phone numbers and things like that. But others that I don´t even know their names, and maybe it´s just me but i feel weird seeing each other and not saying a word! I feel thats even rude,but i´ve said hello numerous times only to be ignored by some. So I´m trying to get people to be friendlier, to say hello,converse a little,get to know your neighbor. It´s even to our advantage to have a good relationship with our neighbor, since the live right next to you!!
