I have found a job not long ago.Our company dont offer supper so I have to cook myself.Several colleagues and I deside to eat together and two of them are males. They said that as a female I need to learn cook because it is the basic housework for a good wife and mother. But does cooking really the duty of females? What about the role of males play on a family?

I do not think woman should be required to cook. The reason that they think this is either they are to lazy to cook themselves or they were brought up in a household where woman did cook and the men never did. Also, most woman cook because they are stay at home moms or wife's and the husband is out working and is to busy to cook.

I too think anyone should be learning to cook not just for others benefit's but for your own benefit's too.So i think cooking is a really useful skill to learn.

It is generally the wife that does the cooking, but that is not always the case - there are many couples in which the husband likes to cook more than his wife, so he takes over that responsibility. I do think that is good for both sexes to learn to cook, if only enough to take care of themselves whenever needed.

fangqin everyone should learn to cook, so you can be able to care for yourself, its not that hard to do, and all people should learn how to cook. I think both make and females of a family should cook when they can, my husband was an excellent cook and he did not feel a bit odd at cooking dinner for me, as I can cook and always did but both should know how to do this very basic skill.

I don't think cooking is the duty of females.Males have the same duty to cook meals.Cooking is the same to the male and the females. We must break the old sayings.Who has time, who has the rights to cook.

I think both male and female should be able to know and learn how to cook. My 10 year old son even knows how to cook soup and egg and other things he could just fry in oil. So does my 16 year old daughter and my 15 year old son. It doesn't have to be the hard to learn foods you need to cook you just have to know how to cook even just the basics. It doesn't have to be because your female you are just the one in-charge of cooking I don't agree with that but yes as a mother and a wife I really have to know something about cooking. My husband cooks as well in our house. He cooks more than I do because I go to work and he doesn't. Anyways equality on things is good for both males and females.

well, for me it's a yes. knowing how to cook is a very basic thing for a woman to know, especially it's the woman who cares for the family and she prepares the meal for the husband and the kids, it's really different when the meal is prepared by the person you love and it makes you feel important and cared for especially in a man's perspective. as they alway's say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach and i really believe that. my boyfriend loves it when i prepare meal for him. he is always happy when i cook for him and when he see my effort to make him happy and fell loved.

I believe both men and women need to cook. It is the right thing to do and it teaches the children at home to be able to be on their own, whatever they are boys or girls. The world is changing and more women work around the world, so the so called femaile duties applied to males too.

I think that everyone should learn to cook, no exceptions. You need to know how to take care of yourself- even if it's something as simple as cooking hotdogs on a grill or getting a salad together. After all, regardless of marital status, you can't always depend on others to provide food for you.

I don't agree with the saying. But,if you know the basic,it will come in handy for you when you need it in life.Life can be so unexpected, you never know what is going to happen the next fifteen minutes in your life.By the way, cooking is fun. When you have your own family, you will love cooking for your kids and hubby but that doesn't mean it is necessary for a woman to learn. There are guys who doesn't know how to drive a vehicle.Does it make them less man?I bet it is a big No.It is advantage when he knows how to drive, because someday he may have his own vehicle and he don't need to keep a driver and pay extra from his pocket, if he knew how to drive. So it is likewise.

I feel that learning to cook is a grate skill for everyone and is not just a women's job there are lots of single fathers who cook for there kids there are male chefs who cook for a living and what if the wife is sick and unable to cook i think that cooking is for both men and women and i think that a women or men should at least learn a few basics im not the best cook but i can throw a few quick dishes together and i definitely don't think its only a wife's job.

Everybody should learn to cook, because nobody has to cook for anybody else unless they want to! Tell them to stop being so lazy and grow up and cook their own food! Times has changed a lot since it was seen as the woman's role to cook and clean all day!

Women aren't required to cook for a household and neither are Men but theres no diffrence who needs to be a cooker. But it's required theres a cook in the house. The duty of a Women these days could be anything they would like to do ,same as Men.

The tradition was that the women learned to cook because the man was out in the field all day and would come in at lunch or supper time. While the woman was fixing breakfast the man would be out doing the chores. Things have changes so much that those people would not recognize the way things are done today. Rolls have also changed. Women are doing what was considered men's work 20 years ago. They are truck drivers and work on oil rigs. They are mechanics and much more as well as the cleaner jobs of working in an office. So if a person wants to eat they should learn to cook. Not just women but men too. If those men don't want to cook then let them do the cleanup or they don't eat. Or you and the other ladies can cook for yourselves and let the men cook for themselves.

i dont think its necessary, but i do think it is helpful if both MEN and women learn to cook. this way, if they are out on their own, they know what to do. but also, i suppose, it depends on where you live and your cultural background. my hubby and i live in canada and HE does ALL the cooking!!!

It depends on the culture, beliefs of the people concerned. In our case, women should learn how to cook. As the husbands take care of the money matters, the wives should take care the house and do the household chores as well. But there are wives now who are more empowered as they go to work as well and have their own careers. Well, it depends.

I think both male and female should learn to cook, they always said that a woman should know how to cook so that she will be a good wife, but its like that woman is not only for the kitchen they can also enjoy out side, and males do what woman can do like cooking,he should know about this because this is very Important for all us to know everything.

No, I don't think it's necessary for women to learn cooking. Cooking is not an exclusive task of them. Women today are more competitive and can do the jobs of men. Double standards was a thing of a past because I believe that what men can do women can do also.

People usually says "If you want to seize a male, you must seize his stomach first." The mean of "seize his stomach" reminds FEMALE the importance of the skill of cooking and the need of learning it.Perhaps the popular saying is still work in some cases, but the importance and need are not just for female.Nowadays,I think cooking can be an interest,an hobby, not a responsibility or obligation. What'a more, there is some family without mother. In those family, cooking becomes the basic housework for fathers and some of those fathers choose to employ one to cooking or eat ourside. Now that male can do that, female can do that too,so it is not necessary for female. If it is really necessary ,it is necessary for every one.
