Tim Pawlenty, the governor of Minnesota. That's my guess for McCain's VP.

My poly-sci major friend still thinks there's a good chance McCain'll pick Romney, despite their personal animosities, in order to win Michigan. But, I don't know - UAW members (et al) might view the problem being Republicans in general that have caused their job losses, even though Romney's a very popular Michigan politician. Then he's now thinking McCain'll pick a woman as his VP in order to pull the disenfranchised Hillary-ites over to his column. I personally can't understand how any of them would prefer to go another four years under the Republican banner to supporting a Democrat when they claim to be Democrats. Despite their rhetoric, my guess is that they refuse to vote for a Black man as many in the town I live in are saying, despite their staunch Democrat beliefs. They're so full of bigotry that they'd sell out their party rather than ever give in. That kind of mindset completely amazes me - it's so hypocritical and oxymoronic (emphasis on the "moronic").

It's not all bigotry (although I can't say there is none). A lot of Hillary-ites are planning on voting for McCain this time, but not because they like Republicans so much. You have to remember, if Obama wins, then he becomes the automatic nominee for 2012. 2012 will be Hillary's last chance at winning the White House. So for them it's not about party, it's about giving their candidate another shot at the Oval Office. McCain is inviting trouble if he chooses Romney. A huge number of evangelicals would rather vote for Obama than see a Mormon VP.

Pawltenty came just short of denying it, and Mitt Romney apparently said something about not having any plans to go to Dayton today. It looks like there might be a young female on the Republican ticket this years... Could Sarah Palin (Governor of Alaska) be his choice?
