McCain has picked his VP running-mate. He has chosen a women governor from Alaska. Personally, I'm all for it. Women should be treated equally. But, here's my problem. Hillary LOST!!! That's just how it goes. She had her moment in the sun and now she is done. But, many of her followers REFUSE to support Obama and now claim they'll support McCain because of his VP choice??? WTF?!?!?? How can you believe in one platform (Democrat) and then choose to support an entirely DIFFERENT platform (Republican) simply because there is a woman on the ticket??? Isn't that just another version of the sexism you accuse the media of? Aren't you saying that you really don't care about changing the political arena in DC? All you care about is a woman running, even if her beliefs are polar opposites of yours??? How bizarre is that???? Either you're a Democrat or you're not. You sound more like fair-weather or Sunday Christians who don't live what they claim until they're in church or who only go to church on Holidays when it looks good. If you support a Republican ticket, with or without a woman, you are NOT a Democrat!!! Plain and simple!!! (I mean those who devote themselves to supporting Democrats, who register Democrat, who have bumper stickers claiming we need to "get it right" by voting Democrat - not people who have no party affiliation and vote per their hearts each election.) You want Bush out, you KNOW McCain has voted with Bush 90+% of the time, you know Bush has held fundraisers for him, you KNOW McCain supports our being in Iraq for even "100 years" if necessary, yet you'll VOTE FOR MCCAIN JUST BECAUSE HE CHOSE A WOMAN???? Does that even remotely make sense??? Do you even investigate these candidates and what they stand for? Do you even care? Or do you just go with "the flavor of the week"? Choosing A because he is good looking, choosing B because he likes cats, choosing C because she can have babies? Exactly how does any of that matter when compared to what you claim to hold important in politics? Or is it, as my landlords and their families have stated, you have no intention of helping put a "N****r" in the White House, so for the first time in your lives you'll vote Republican, but use the excuse that he has a lady running-mate? If that's your reasoning, then don't vote. You don't deserve to have a say in this country. You deserve to have a dictatorship in charge. Don't you DARE tell me I should support Democrats, that I should never vote Republican, that only Democrats can get things done while YOU REFUSE to live up to your own demands!!! Don't you DARE!!! And, again, if you've read this far, I will re-iterate - I am not talking about free-thinkers, independents who vote according to their own personal conscience, which is fully their right. I'm talking about those who claim to be diehard Dems who ridicule Republicans as "Repukes" who are now going to vote Republican because there is a woman on the ticket. That just makes me ill. Totally ill. ::sets soapbox aside, moves podium:: So, now that it's out of my system, tell me what your thoughts are on this? Remember - on an individual level, I have no problems with people unless they behave towards me in a condescending manner or lie boldfaced to me. I even like my landlords, despite their hypocritical bigotry (and I detest bigotry). But, tell me what you think about this - are you a Democrat who will vote for McCain now? Am I SO wrong on why you are? If so, tell me why you're changing parties. And, other opinions as well.

OMFG! That's the reason he picked a woman! That's what he was hoping for! To get the Hillary votes! That SOB! Well he still isn't getting my vote! I agree with you 100%! I am a Democrat! I may not agree 100% with everything that the choice is giving me, but I will not vote for the Republican choice no matter what they do! I will stick to the Democratic ticket and that's it! I will be voting for Obama because I don't want 4 more years of Bush and that's what voting Republican would be doing and anyone that thinks otherwise is a FA! I feel very strongly about this and I will not change my opinion. I hope that others will not see McCains choice of a woman VP as anything but what it is, a ploy to get votes from Hillary supporters!

All I can or will say is if those women were Hillary supporters and now going to McCain because he has chosen a women then more power to them, they will fit right in over there. They were not true Democrats to begin with.

Exactly my point. I've been criticized for not voting a straight Dem ticket, had my vote announced to any and all by people who had access to my ballot during counting, and other assorted things by supposedly devout Democrats....who are now going to vote for McCain. In this case, because Obama's black. but, others I know are saying, "Oh good - McCain chose a woman - I'm voting for him now" like that's the only reason to do it. It's as bad to vote for a gender or race as it is to vote against a gender or race - but particularly more irritating when those same people ridicule people who have voted Republican in the past. Just makes me want to take the out to the woodshed!!
