Taking the shuttle vs a cab...

Well, we found out the hard (and expensive) way that we should have taken the extra time to take the shuttle back and forth to the hotels instead of taking a cab... Our second stop of our trip was Las Vegas, we rented a car in Ontario California and drove to Las Vegas. I thought it'd be easier and about the same cost to just take a cab from the airport where we dropped off the car. We realized on our second time to Vegas last week, that it's cheaper to walk across the drop-off lane at the airport, and get the shuttle back. And it really wasn't that hard! That's what we'll do from now on! Live and learn, right?

We usually take the shuttle from the airport to our hotel. Then when we're leaving, we usually take a cab from the hotel to the airport. I don't mind making a few stops between the airport and my hotel. It's not like the casinos are going to close! LOL! But when I'm leaving, I want to make sure to get to the airport quickly, so we take a cab to avoid extra stops.

We just thought it'd be such a hassle to get from the rental place to the airport, but it was quite easy! We definitely learned our lesson.

Mass transit is usually less expensive then cabs. Limo's from the airport that takes lots of people are cheaper then taxis in Las Vegas. We shared a limo with a bunch of strangers once from the airport and it was less then a taxi. That is another option.

Unfortunately we didn't realize that the place to catch the shuttle was just across from the rental center. For quite a few airports, you have to take a shuttle to the rental place from the airport and I didn't think we wanted to do that. Live and learn. We know for next time!

I love Vegas and go as often as I can. It has been about 5 years since I have been. I would love to go back soon. I fear it will be a while

I'm hoping we can go back next year. Once we get our home business where we want it we'll start saving for that trip! But for now we're taking all our extra money and putting it onto the mortgage.

Yeah, live and learn. They say we learn something new everyday! Which this is what you learned that day! I can imagine the shuttle is way better than paying for a cab. Sounds like you had a hefty bill for the cabs you used this trip.

We thought it would be easier and less of a hassle to take a cab, but the price wasn't really worth it. The shuttle was about half price.
