Yes, it is true.
At least 2 celebraties have now threatened to leave the U.S.A. if Obama loses the election and John McCain wins. Who are these political mal-contented fair weather patroits? Michael Stipes of REM and Susan Sarandon.

Then when McCain wins, I would say if they don't leave, the first act as president would be to terminate their citizenship and throw them out.
Maybe they would be happier in a nice communist country, or better yet, one of those terrorist countries that are also supporting Obama.

Well, in a free country people are free to be stupid and liars so I would not throw them out. However, the notion of a full investigation into how many of America's enemies supported Obama and to what extent democratic leaders knew, encouraged and agreed with our enemies should be fully exposed to the public so people know better than to ever vote democratic again.

Here's a little something that I got this morning....

As to those two idiots, they sure don't think much of our country, and they are free to leave anytime.
I have no doubt that we would lose nothing if they left.

Redyellowblackdog are not actors and actress always threatening to leave the country if a Republican wins? Just another empty promise from Hollywood. If McCain wins we should all go to Hollywood and help them leave. America would be better off without Hollywood and the trash they produce.

Funny how conservatives don't threaten to leave when Democrats win.

Notice how it is liberals threatening to leave, not conservatives?

Oh! What a ridiculous abuse of celebrity standing. You would think that ANYONE with any true grit would stick around and fight if things didn't go their way; not run off to another country! Says a lot about their strength of character really. Michael Stipes must have been shaving his head just a little too closely lately and maybe nicked a few brain cells while he was at it; and Susan Sarandon? I am actually surprised at her stance. I always knew she was someone that generally has and demonstrates a social conscience but not to this extreme?? I wonder where they will move to then if McCain wins? Cuba is going through some positive changes? Maybe they can move to Cuba.....

I think Canada, England, and France are popular with this crowd.

On my, my...promises, promises. Let's all hope they won't back out and stay when McCain wins. Let's also hope that other "Liberal Hollywoodites" will join them in there new found country. None of them, I'm sure, will be missed. Lastly, for anyone who dislikes or hates America, then leave...get out, vamoose, so long, goodbye, and good riddance.

Has any of the people in the past who promised to leave as the result of an election ever done so? I can't think of any.
Here's my promise.
If Obama wins, I promise to try harder to keep him from winning next time.

You'd think these celebs would realize they hurt their careers everytime they talk about politics.

I'm tired of these whiney celebrities having tantrums when politics doesn't go their way. If they were true Americans they would be outspoken about staying and trying to make the USA better when they think things are wrong. I hope no one mistakes Sarandon and Stipes for good citizens.

The system of government in the USA is excellant. It is we the people who fall short sometimes.
Threatening to leave as these people are almost always is an empty threat, anyway. Additionally, the folks threatening to leave often are those who have been most blessed with talent and opportunity.

I'm with you as to not understanding why anyone listens to anyone just because they are a celebraty.

When it comes to being "disconnected" with real life and real people - celebrites are so far from the average working person that they really don't have a clue.
The number of these clueless individuals flocking to Obama is sad. He is where the celebrity spotlight is currently; so, to "stay in the public eye" celebrities flock to him like moths to the flame so they can get more publicity.
Too many celebrities in the "flock"; then, you just have to be more outrageous with your own comments and actions so you are the one being quoted and getting the publicity not one of your rivals.

I think you have summed up the situation quite well.
