When we wish to feel secure and centered, we need only to turn our focus inward. No matter what the circumstances are in the outside world, there is always a well of ease and comfort available within. Moving into ourselves on the breath, we are at that moment present and alert. We become aware in that instant of the one reality: this present moment. This awareness brings us a feeling of complete security and frees us from worries and external distractions. Direct your attention inside yourself today, and you will know a feeling of true stability and comfort regardless of your outside circumstances.
Sit comfortably in a quiet, peaceful place. Close your eyes and bring your focus from the outside world to deep within you. Imagine yourself breathing in and out through your navel. Make each inhalation and exhalation soothing and seamless, with each one flowing naturally and easily into the other. Breathe gently, but deeply filling your whole abdomen with fresh air. When you exhale, concentrate on the motion of your navel as it moves closer to your spine.
I have found this extremely helpful in times of stress, and know others who use it on a regular basis. I hope that many will find it useful.
