What do you think of sarah palin? When I first heard I thought Mcain was just playing the history game along with obama- Who can be the first black? who can be the first woman? But I began to research her immediately- and I think this was the best pick he could make. I actually wish she were on the top of the ticket -I would vote for her over any of them. Excellent speaker, smart, savvy, tough, down to earth- looks great-puts hillary to shame when it comes to dressing! Now we have an intersting race- I can actually vote for MCcain now!

BA in Journalism Less than 2 years as Gov of a state with a population of less than Austin, Texas No international experience No real economic experience If McCain were to become incapacitated during his term she would be President. What exactly does she bring to the table? I think he made a mistake.

My question remains the same. What exactly does she bring to the table? This is not a question nor a comparison of what Obama brings to the table, doesn't matter.

a good leader surrounds himself with the best and the brightest-she doesn't need to be an expert she needs to find them. Obama on the other hand has no administrative experience-

This is the only positive comment I have heard from anyone in regards to Sarah Palin. Read alittle more into her backgound and see if you still feel this way. She is not your average candidate. Plus she only has two years experience as governor, and is under investigation among other things. I think this choice shows McCains poor judgment.

If that's the only positive comment you've heard then maybe you need to read a little more. She has record setting approval ratings. Typically 80 to 90 but it has gone into the 90s throughout her time as governor of Alaska.

I agree with you. I am very excited and feel much better voting for McCain. We just might have a woman president and I am very thankful it is not Clinton.

She's fascinating as a person...and perhaps maybe she'd do fine as President...but all these perhapses and maybes this year bother me as a rule, and I'm not gonna make an exception just 'cause she's a lady and a politician from Alaska, no less. I think it was partly the "history" thing...and the rest was most likely trying to scoop up Hillary supporters+establish a better conservative base 'cause it wasn't looking very good with a batch or two of republicans going, "Um..I dunno" about McCain heh.

First, welcome to myLot and I really hope you love it here like I do! Now, please don't be offended or let us get off on the wrong foot with this, but "...looks great-puts hillary to shame when it comes to dressing!" - I find that a bit scary. What if I or someone else were to say Obama or Biden puts McCain to shame when it comes to dressing? Annie

My comment about her dress was a little tongue and cheek but I do think it is as important to look classy as it is to speak eloquently-

I Find her an interesting person, and choice. I like some of the things i've read about her political career in Alaska. I haven't found too much negative about her personal lifestyle I can take issue with (i know alot of people take issue with a 17 year old pregnant daughter) Heres my problem Mccain is older than most, raising in my mind health care concerns that I didn't really think about with other presidents in my lifetime. Miss Palin has no Economic experiance, no foreign policy experiance, No real experiance to take over the presidency. This concerns me. Just for the record, I am registered independent.

I agree. This was an excellent choice. I've been reading about Sarah Palin for 2+ months...because I first heard on Fox News that she might be a possibility. Everything I've read has impressed me. She has executive experience. For those who think running a town or a state - no matter what the size - doesn't bring executive experience, they just need to follow around a mayor or governor for a while. (I did...follow a small town mayor around to write about him...and it wore me out. And that wasn't in Alaska!) It's doubtful that anything will happen to McCain in the next 4 years. He released all of his medical records in May and the media could find nothing worrisome. His doctor reminded everyone that we never know when someone is going to die, unless they have a serious illness, which he does not. The reports said his heart was like that of a man much younger. The "serious" skin cancer he had in 2000 was removed and since it's been this long, he has on a 10% chance it will EVER return. Governor Palin went up against the big oil companies and against the good ol' boys in Washington. Good for her! I think everyone is going to be surprised at how well she'll do in the debates against Biden. All he can do is yell and be nasty. She is definitely a breath of fresh air. We need someone who is not Washingtonized. And...she'll certainly be ready to run for President in 4 years.
