Lion on the menu? At South Philly Tap Room for the next five minutes...

Lion Entree from SPTR - This looks SO unappetizing...like a cooked turd on a dish. They also probably charged WAY too much for this little piece of meat...and considering how large a lion is, someone's really making out like a bandit! To each his own, but I'd have to give it a big thumbs down...presentation is everything, except when you can't change the fact that you're eating lion!

Another restaurant (not some steak shop either!), the South Philly Tap Room likes to serve exotic fare...boar, bear, ostrich...and lion. However, the lion will no longer be served there, due to increased pressure from local vegetarians. Read the article here: http://www.asylum.com/2008/08/07/philly-restaurant-pressured-to-take-lion-off-menu/ Now frogs legs and shark aren't even considered that exotic anymore, so what's the most unusual food you've ever eaten (and would you ever eat it again)? For me, it was alligator that I tried last April...everyone at the table laughed at how much cocktail sauce I put on this little bitty piece, and of course the one girl waited til after I put it in my mouth to say, "It's really chewy!" It took me quite some time to work up the courage to swallow! And I will NOT be having it again!

HowdySB, I think the strangest things for me are things that swim... Not alligator how ever, I had no desire while I was in LA to try it. But Squid octopus, that sort of thing I am pretty brave about. When I was a kid my mother hunted down squirrel and rabbit, I have tasted it but never got a real taste for game type animals. I am not crazy about deer either.
