what do you think are the *most popular* heavy metal songs (not the new stuff like archenemy or slipknot, but classic metal)? Not which is your favorite but which are the most popular? The reason I ask is because I'm trying to choose good metal songs for karaoke! So far I did Breaking the Law by Judas Priest and Enter Sandman by Metallica, but I am looking for new ones!

Well...how about...Crazy Train...Rock You Like A Hurricane....Man In The Box...Empire...Holy Diver...Rainbow In The Dark. Some of these might not be considered metal by some, and some may not consider some of these to be popular, but I can pretty much guarantee that any true classic metal fan will recognize all of them.

Some good ones there. Yeah, I recognize all of them. I'm not sure if I remember Empire though. Is that a song by Queensryche?

That's right. It's off the album of the same name. It's the same album that has Silent Lucidity, which was the most popular song off that album, but you may not want a metal ballad. And, other songs on Empire are, Jet City Woman, Another Rainy Night, and Della Brown; all were pretty popular. By the way, I also responded to your Maiden karaoke post.

'Paranoid' by Black Sabbath, 'Back In Black' by ACDC, 'Love hurts' by Nazareth, 'Faithfully' by Journey to name a few.

Anything from Metallica, Judas Priest, or AC/DC. These are the bands that come to mind when I hear the term heavy metal.

Most songs off the Metallica's black album are popular. You already mention Enter Sandman. Wherever I may roam or Nothing Else Matters are also popular off that record. Fear of the Dark, Hallowed be thy name & Running Free from Iron Maiden are also very popular.
