Have you ever been affected by a tornado?

I know there are certain places in the midwest that are considered TORNADO ALLEY. I am in Chicago, and myself have never had an Tornado directly affect me. They have been in areas nearby, but never close enough to affect my home or property, or that of my family or friends. Every time i hear about tornados in the area, i thank god for sparing me the destruction that one can cause.
Have you or a loved one, ever had your home or property destroyed by a twister? Hopefully for those who have, nobody was hurt, as that is the most important thing in the world...material items are replaceable, lives arent!

I have never had a tornado damage any of my property. They have touched down in the town I live in before and hit the country club throwing golf carts around etc. A tornado hit a town 40 miles from me this summer and it tore through the drive inn theater sadly it would cost to much for a new screen so we no longer have a drive inn theater to enjoy.

I use to love the drive in movies. We stil have one somewhere not too far from us, but cant recall where. I jsut know I have a friend who has recently gone to it, so i know its still around..lol.

I was living in a trailer park when a tornado came through. It hit some of the trailers pretty hard. There was one on the other side of the trailer park that was turned upside down. I was sleeping when I got a banging on my door and my dog was going crazy. I looked out the window and there were all kind of emergency vehicles outside. I opened the door and a policeman said that they were evacuating everyone due to a strong smell of gas. He said it looked like there was a gas leak somewhere. So I woke up my son. Yes, he slept through it all and we left. When I walked outside I couldn't believe what the tornado had done to the trailer park. The funny thing about it was it touched down on every other trailer. It did some heavy damage to some and others the damage was light. The trailer I was living in didn't have hardly any damage at all. There must have been my guardian angel above my trailer with it's wings spread out. I am a person who does believe in guardian angels and that they protect you.

I too believe in guardian angels, and for certain, yours was with you that day. Thanks for sharing your story and im so happy that your family and belongings survived.
