Yes you read the title correctly. I went to the Minnesota Rennasiance Festival Saturday all day long. One of the shows there were a variety of woman Belly Dancers that danced with snakes, lizards, and even an alligator. It was an awesome show. This is one of the dancers with a smaller bull snake. This is a constirctor. The thing about this show is that it was not all about belly dancing etc. It was actually educational as well. After the dancing show was over the members of this act taught the crowd various things about the reptiles they have with them and use. I got to pet a 9 foot alligator and also touched a Boa that was 5 feet long. So awesome to say the least. Have you ever seen a serpent Belly Dancing Show? Have you ever touched any large snakes at all in your life? Rennasiance Festival in your area? Do you, or have you gone to it?HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I take a lot of my vegies I grow for the restaraunt as well for them to serve in their dishes. I've been eating there for over 25 years and actually get tired of that style of foods at times. But that's understandable. HAHAHA! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

[i]Hi Grandpa B, wow..that is amazing! I haven't tried seeing a woman dancing with any of that animals as a props! but, that is cool that there is a lecture after the presentation, I know people love to learn from it! I have tried once having a large snake on my shoulder when we had a tour back in my Country...We asked the caretaker to join us and hold the head of the snake..LOL! it was very huge and It was amazing touching it, he could barely move that time since he was very full! It was the reticulated python and according to the care taker it will eat an entire chicken or pig! We have not seen him eating but during the picture taking, he could hardly move because he was so full!

I had a boa about 4 feet long and once pet my brother's friend, Hugh's, 8 foot boa. I have pet a gater, a young shark, a hairy spider, (eww) a bunch of other snakes. I have rescued snakes from my cats, I'd rather touch a snake than a rat.

Cool deal. So many people hate snakes thinking they are slimy creatures. They feel very smooth not slimy is all. I had a Spider Monkey back in the mid 70's as a pet. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

they are absolutely wonderful to stroke, I would love to still have one, but I think the cats would take exception.

I can't help thinking that the alligator must be REAL tamed. Nope never seen a serpent belly dancing act..As far as handling snakes myself...yup--not afraid of them at all, as I had one friend who had a virtual zoo at her home...cats, a dog, macaw parrot, lizards, turtles, tarantulas....and yup a fully grown Python which I handled one time Then one time when I was with my mother at DisneyWorld....we were staying at the Polynesian Village and we were at the beach area..all of a sudden I see all this movement on the sand...itty bitty baby lizards that must have just hatched...but yikes they were headed toward the water! thought oh no...the poor things will drown themselves...so I dashed and one by one scooped up each baby lizard before they could reach the water and placed them all to safety..so I obviously don't have a fear of lizards either..LOL

When the gator was out to be touched and or petted it's mouth had been taped shut. So I do not think it was all that tame. When it was in the cage it was not taped. That's my thoughts anyhow. HAHAHA! YIKES! I'd freak at a beach seeing something like that. Oh my gawd I'd be screaming like a little girl I fear. Hahahaha! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

My goodness..you'd be afraid of little bitty lizards? They were so small they could fit in the palm of my hand--they were baby chameleon types

I have never seen one and don't want to! I hate snakes. Now it would be cool to see the lizards and alligator without the snakes! And, I'd like to see a real belly dancer. I have thought of trying to learn to belly dance before.

Thanks for not showing me the snakes! I left a comment on the pic. I really like seeing the different belly dancer costumes, some of them are so intricate.

That's one brave (or crazy) woman there! I am terrified of snakes but oddly enough the really big ones don't bother me as much. I did touch a very large python at the zoo in Memphis a few years ago. They had it outside of the cage for people to pet. I thought I would be too scared to touch it but it really didn't even seem like a snake. It was so big.

Snakes are cool to touch etc. I can be known to be queasy near a HUGE snake at times as well though. It is the fact that one could possibly eat a human I think is all. Hahahaha! I'd give it indigestion or something though I think. Hahaha! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

No way would I ever dance with a snake, alligator or a lizard. I am so scared of reptiles like that. The only time I have ever touched a lizard is when my brother would chase me with them and throw one on me at time. Maybe that is why I hate them? hahaha I don't recall if I have ever touched a snake or alligator but I don't think I have. I could watch the belly dancing with the reptiles from a distance maybe.

Hi GRANDPA BOB! I have seen one in tv but never yet in a live performance. It must be awesome but kinda scary too. I have touched large snakes before, boa constrictor in a zoo before. And I am really nervous when I was touching it. My husband has pet snakes before and he used to dare me to have one of his smallest pet snake to have it curled around my hand. Well, I did accept the challenge but it really made me scream when the snake is slowly wrapping its cold body around my hand and tightening its grip little by little. I can feel my hand going cold and can see my hand getting pale. Yikes! Take care always..God Bless!

There are some things that I would never do in my life and touching a snake will never be one of those. In fact, I would never even get close enough to touch one, I would be running away screaming.

I have never seen a dancer like that but I did used to have a Burmese Python named Donovan. He was about 12' long when I had to give him to a herpetologist, he was too big! He'd follow me around the house like a dog and curl up on my lap when I read. He crawled into my bed one night when the heater failed and man, was he COLD!! Snakes make wonderful companions. I'd like to touch an alligator but never have yet.

hi grandpa bob I have never seen a belly dancing show but it' looks really interesting. Yes I have tou ched snakes but very reluctantly. we used to go to the Snake pit In Rapid 'city and watch the snake shows. They had a lot of different kinds of snakes and educated us on where they came from and all sorts' of information. then we got tohandle some of them but I kept at a distance most of the time. snakes are sort of a fear phobia with me. lol.

So many people fear snakes. It's unreal. But it is also understandable. This show was very educational as they taught people about the snake they were using at th time of their dance routine. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I've never seen Serpent Belly Dancers before but it would be awesome. I love snakes. I actually have a five foot ball python. I have also held a few rather large pythons at zoos and such. And when I worked at the pet store we had an eight foot Boa Constrictor which I held and fed. She was a beauty.

We used to have a great rennasiance festival in our area, but, for some reason they stopped it. I really liked it, especially the jousting. I would have passed on the serpent show....ewww...snakes don't appeal to me one bit.

Boa Constrictor - This little beauty is around 2 and a half years old.
That sounds good fun, yes I have touched a 5 foot long boa, my hubby has one! It is a female one and she is gorgeous. I have never held her though as she is very powerful and I feel frightened that she may decide to strangle me, she loves my hubby you see so she may decide to do away with me LOL! I will put a pic on of the boa for you it is just a little bit blurry though.

Hi GRANDPA BOB, Wow! must a sight but I'm really scared of snakes, my friend had boa constrictor in her house and I was so petrifide I wouldn't go any where near the glass cage and just then she open the cage and put her hands in it and stroke the snake, I moved closer to my friend and found myself stroking the snake she called Ruby but I'm still scared although the snake was soft and silky, she loves her snakes.
